Hello everyone! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm baacck after too long a time really! It's just the last uni shoes are keeping me very busy- I'm working 10am till 8pm every day at the moment :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But today I bring you some pictures of the bridal fashion show I helped dress on a couple of weeks ago.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The company I was getting experience with was called 'Arga Arga Bridal' (they have a website so definitely give them a Google!)- I met the designers at Brides the show last year and amazingly they kept me in mind and got in contact with me to help out at one of their line launch bridal fashion shows!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was very exciting as there were hair and makeup people behind the scenes too and the dresses are so beautiful (why they caught my eye at Brides the show!!!). They are different to the traditional white wedding dress as the cuts are often so interesting and Arga Arga are known for incorporating beautiful hand worked embroidery into their dresses also.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now enough of my waffle here are a couple of shots from the day :) :</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was so great to get the experience I'm very grateful and will definitely be keeping in contact with the designers- hopefully they will have more events I can help out at In the future!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My next post will be about the dress I have just finished for my recent uni show :)</div>

Hello all!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you are all well and are enjoying the sun which is just starting to some out! :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The week just gone was 'Symposium week' at my university (I posted about symposium last year, but for those who don't know it's kind of like a mini festival that happens on campus where there are workshops for you to sign up to and shows to watch! So basically a week of fun and excitement exploring new things really :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I actually hosted my own workshop this year teaching people the basics of knitting which was very enjoyable- everyone picked it up pretty quickly as well too which was impressive! They seemed to enjoy my class so I was happy :p I will definitely be trying to think of what workshop I can host next year now after the fun I had hosting my own!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haha but now- among many one workshop I did was making theatrical (basically showgirl) headresss!!! The lady who taught the class was the one who teaches the week of millinery as part of my course- she is very talented and very lovely so it was nice to be taught by her again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We learnt how to have the wire headband and base and then how to build up all the decoration on top. It was cool as everyone's came out so different. Here is my creation....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hehe I am quite proud of it. It is very fun to wear I must say! But I was also super happy to learn the skills of making the wire headband shape as I had caught the millinery bug again and being able to make my own wire headband base allowed me to experiment and come up with my own new fascinator design.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made it as a gift for the birthday of someone special to me's sister that is coming up soon :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I quite like the design- it is kind of flower and origami like- it was fun to see what I could create by just folding and pleating and sewing the sinamay in different ways. And then I added the feathers and metal flat back charms to decorate :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hehe that's way out it for this fascinator and feather filled post :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Talk to you all again soon! </div>

<br />
First up Happy (belated) Easter to everyone! I hope you had a fabulous time :)<br />
<br />
I am currently in the Isle of Wight for my Easter holidays and am having a good time<br />
<br />
Yesterday me and my family went into ryde and had a walk down the high street. There is a shop there my family always go in called the 'Fantastic Store' it is basically a comic book and action figure store which covers both retro and new items. I am not to into that kind of stuff if I'm honest but I usually have a look around whilst I'm waiting for my parents to finish as on the odd occasion I do find something cool :p yesterday happened to be one of those days!<br />
<br />
I was looking at the piles of magazines on the floor and came across a stack of old (about 1980s) 'military modelling' magazines, I don't really know why but I thought ill flick through one of those- just to see what it's like I suppose and then I saw that in each is sure was articles on, and sketches of, some military uniforrms! Talked about in really good detail (to help the diehard modellers I suppose)- so absoloutely fascinating for me from a costume perspective. There was even the odd scaled down historical jacket pattern.<br />
<br />
Look:<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At only £1 each I picked up three of them :p hehe I never know what show ill be making for next but if it is set in world war 2 and there are some paratroopers taht need costuming I will know where to turn to start my research! ;p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you can get your hands on any copies the costume bit is well worth a read if you are interested in such things as I am :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hi everyone,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As I mentioned I am not on show anymore so that means I am back on my half scale project :) I mentioned this before but just in case you don't remember this is the project where we choose a historical dress from Janet Arnolds Patterns of fashion and make it up in half scale.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I chose this victorian day dress- which I was lucky enough to go and view at the v and a archive yesterday!! (Clothworkers centre- you have to book an appointment :):</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_fvklXYNXts/VRMyUBhAXxI/AAAAAAAAEG0/nunufnOzAfw/s1600/55034-large.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_fvklXYNXts/VRMyUBhAXxI/AAAAAAAAEG0/nunufnOzAfw/s1600/55034-large.jpg" height="400" width="291" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
(Image from v and a website)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is what I have of my half scale so far:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V-Z23pLHuA0/VRMlK9ZlZuI/AAAAAAAAEGU/WMIJalVjuco/s1600/20150320_121331.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V-Z23pLHuA0/VRMlK9ZlZuI/AAAAAAAAEGU/WMIJalVjuco/s1600/20150320_121331.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LMphsRr1BO8/VRMlhT3iuHI/AAAAAAAAEGk/HwahFUskUBU/s1600/20150320_121452.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LMphsRr1BO8/VRMlhT3iuHI/AAAAAAAAEGk/HwahFUskUBU/s1600/20150320_121452.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is taking a long time due to all the hand sewing and how much decoration there is involved but I am proud of how it's coming along :) I working on the overskirt now before I finish off the bodice so I should have some of that to show you soon! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hope you are all well :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bye, ill be back soon! xxx</div>

Hi everyone :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My oh my it has been too long since I posted! But that's what happens when you are on shows and are working 9am till 11pm each day and then have only 3 days to finish off all your written work :p But that is all done now so I am here to report back! :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First I should tell you all what the show I was working on actually was- it was a play called 'The Low Road' written by Bruce Norris. I thought it was a very interesting play (we had to read it and watch the run through so we could see where actors would have quick changes- which we as dressers are in charge of).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It's main theme is economics- which makes it sound a bit boring unless you are into economics but it actually very different and has a really good story to it. It is mainly set in the late 18th century and follows the life of an arrogant and corrupt business man who was raised by a brothel owner, it then jumps forward to the present day in the middle to see one of his ancestors (anti equally slimy businessman) at an economics conference and finally ends with Some Alien bees coming down at the end. Yes you did read that right- alien bees!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I do not blame you if all that makes no sense at all it is one of those things that you need to really read to understand and I'm sure then you would enjoy the story and really get into it and start analysing it like I did! It doesn't sound like it but it is actually a comedy and so when you properly read it it actually gives you the laugh as well :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But anyway- now onto my make. I made the coat designed for the main character, Jim Trumpett, to wear once he had grown up and travelled to market and bought all his new fancy goods- my coat which was meant to be one of his purchases.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
AND HERE IT IS:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3e-DXlu3OV0/VQIGZo1GxAI/AAAAAAAAEEw/Z5vCCYF3X30/s1600/20150303_112842.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3e-DXlu3OV0/VQIGZo1GxAI/AAAAAAAAEEw/Z5vCCYF3X30/s1600/20150303_112842.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UK0oJ7hnsbU/VQIGdabc8TI/AAAAAAAAEE8/hgq8p_ooNAc/s1600/20150303_112935.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-UK0oJ7hnsbU/VQIGdabc8TI/AAAAAAAAEE8/hgq8p_ooNAc/s1600/20150303_112935.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pleats are striped- a cool detail the designer wanted :) There were stripes included somewhere on all the costumes by the designer to signify how everyone is kind of connected in the small american tows where the play was set- and I suppose connected to ancestors too for when they jump to the future in once scene. I really like design features that are meant to signify things like the stripes in this play- as it's almost like I am building a code or a secret message into what I am making that can only be accessed by people analysing and imagining and really getting Into the show :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ujjOFExiOmA/VQIGdr4WxMI/AAAAAAAAEE4/nRyVzqSw2iQ/s1600/20150303_112945.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ujjOFExiOmA/VQIGdr4WxMI/AAAAAAAAEE4/nRyVzqSw2iQ/s1600/20150303_112945.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kY-vnE8U8zU/VQIGfFNXI1I/AAAAAAAAEFM/8DOZUJ4ZxIE/s1600/20150303_113143.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kY-vnE8U8zU/VQIGfFNXI1I/AAAAAAAAEFM/8DOZUJ4ZxIE/s1600/20150303_113143.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LVWkggb_dG0/VQII7VTOMZI/AAAAAAAAEFs/dc5j9d0KCdU/s1600/20150302_122316.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LVWkggb_dG0/VQII7VTOMZI/AAAAAAAAEFs/dc5j9d0KCdU/s1600/20150302_122316.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was really proud of how it came out :) It fit really well and I really liked the finished aesthetic- it is probably one of my favourite things I've ever made! And it was even more fabulous taht it got be in a show- on a stage- in stratford london- in front of an audience- which on two of the nights contained my family and friends!!!! :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a sneaky shot of it I took from backstage inbetween carrying out my quick changes:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w3HP7VYdVyY/VQIGfNBIBfI/AAAAAAAAEFI/5p2HE31y2zM/s1600/1426017975011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w3HP7VYdVyY/VQIGfNBIBfI/AAAAAAAAEFI/5p2HE31y2zM/s1600/1426017975011.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But here is a much better shot of it took by the official college photographer during dress parade :p:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YPiW0u5QucM/VQIG8A3JAhI/AAAAAAAAEFY/SCrNGRlwroc/s1600/11054484_10152768060791274_3426796865603125884_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YPiW0u5QucM/VQIG8A3JAhI/AAAAAAAAEFY/SCrNGRlwroc/s1600/11054484_10152768060791274_3426796865603125884_o.jpg" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haha now- did you rebel I mentioned alien bees? One of my jobs was also to help with making thier costumes. We started with some yellow fisherman suits and after some sampling and a lots of hand sewing and analysing the designers sketch here is what the alien bees jacket looked like...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RM95qxf8Du4/VQIHFrw3tSI/AAAAAAAAEFg/KWZull8OEzc/s1600/1424868921519.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RM95qxf8Du4/VQIHFrw3tSI/AAAAAAAAEFg/KWZull8OEzc/s1600/1424868921519.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Notice the stripes..? ;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here are the trousers- mid having thier 'pollen pockets' sewn on :p:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KII7PN3r1L4/VQdNVkm16BI/AAAAAAAAEGA/JYMjcBw3QAs/s1600/20150225_100708.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KII7PN3r1L4/VQdNVkm16BI/AAAAAAAAEGA/JYMjcBw3QAs/s1600/20150225_100708.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really wish I had a picture of the bees full dressed up as the lyrics and the see cool helmets and backpacks with wings on that scenics made! And they had yellow marigold gloves with really long pointed black fake nails on and utility belts! Haha and the microphones they had made them sound all buzzy. I had to quick change alien bee 1 (there were 2) which was quite a challenge as you can imagine due to all the crazy parts there is to put on- but it was fun and we managed it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hehehe hopefully I have managed to explain some of the craziness of shows in an understandable way!? :p </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well done to everyone involved as I think it was really good show and everyone really made me feel part of the team which was lovely!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wonder what adventures and randomness my next show holds for me...? :o)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you are all well and I will speak to you again soon!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bye xxx</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hi everyone! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you are all doing fabulously :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As I mentioned, the Saturday just gone, I went to London Vodafone Fashion Weekend. For anyone not sure of what that is exactly ill give a quick explanation :) London Fashion week happens 2 times a year but the shows at london fashion week are open to trade/by invite only. London vodafone fashion weekend happens in the weekend after london fashion week at Somerset house and is an event which shows some different catwalk shows and has pop up shops and is an event anyone can buy tickets for and join in the fun! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also each VLFW a designer is asked to design a tote bag- which you get one of filled with goodies if you come to the event. Last time I posted when I went in September Lulu Guinness designed the tote bag, but this time around it was Pringle of Scotland:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GQd8iYlc9DE/VPa-IOCdA6I/AAAAAAAAED8/PecCkMeGOrU/s1600/20150304_080855.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GQd8iYlc9DE/VPa-IOCdA6I/AAAAAAAAED8/PecCkMeGOrU/s1600/20150304_080855.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Zas70W3w9ik/VPa-Mg5zNiI/AAAAAAAAEEE/QjBGwW5c2Z8/s1600/20150304_080828.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Zas70W3w9ik/VPa-Mg5zNiI/AAAAAAAAEEE/QjBGwW5c2Z8/s1600/20150304_080828.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really like the cable knit design- it is quite a simple design- but very stylish I think. Very different to last year's so keeps things interesting! :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This time me and my mum went to one catwalk as we found we preffered the designer catwalks to the trend ones.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The show we got to see was Halston Heritage. This was a brand/designer I was not overly familiar with so it was good to learn more.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are some shots of the outfits in the show:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R961VGfZq80/VPIlSTgYmYI/AAAAAAAAECo/kt5ukx3FW14/s1600/20150228_133737.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R961VGfZq80/VPIlSTgYmYI/AAAAAAAAECo/kt5ukx3FW14/s1600/20150228_133737.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KKhzO5QF1eY/VPIlcijjkSI/AAAAAAAAECw/CAgRKrKfqbk/s1600/20150228_134014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KKhzO5QF1eY/VPIlcijjkSI/AAAAAAAAECw/CAgRKrKfqbk/s1600/20150228_134014.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-v9W-5qfSyNU/VPImFx276gI/AAAAAAAAEC4/MxCzEa1wfV8/s1600/20150228_134551.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-v9W-5qfSyNU/VPImFx276gI/AAAAAAAAEC4/MxCzEa1wfV8/s1600/20150228_134551.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My favourite pice of the whole catwalk was the pale green shirt dress with teaches over shirt that ca be seen at the front of this picture- looks fairly simple at first but there is some interesting pattern cutting and construction going on there! I would also definitely wear it in the summer! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9lA2DolQp68/VPImTwTyD7I/AAAAAAAAEDA/Iyk6tW6xTdI/s1600/20150228_134553.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9lA2DolQp68/VPImTwTyD7I/AAAAAAAAEDA/Iyk6tW6xTdI/s1600/20150228_134553.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hi,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you are all doing fabulously :) </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A week or so ago me and my friend Grace from college went to see the Women, Fashion, Power exhibition at the Design Museum in London. It was a really cool exhibition- looking a the the clothing of some very influential women in the world throughout history and now in the modern day. And there were lo just examples of interesting womenwearclothing and shoes too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
From visiting I did manage to tick one thing off my bucket list!!- to see a garment worn by Lady Gaga with my own eyes in person!! Look, I saw this black plastic bag dress worn by Miss Gaga herself!:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Cw-vBjK_vTM/VO3NTPLAhyI/AAAAAAAAEBo/NpuGDtP0ChY/s1600/20150207_123559.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Cw-vBjK_vTM/VO3NTPLAhyI/AAAAAAAAEBo/NpuGDtP0ChY/s1600/20150207_123559.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of my other favourite pieces was this strappy black bolero type piece with these amazing metallic/almost holographic plastic pieces protruding from the sleeves:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IjqaWqcqZtA/VO3NdlMtF-I/AAAAAAAAEBw/CpkIMuccduo/s1600/20150207_123614.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IjqaWqcqZtA/VO3NdlMtF-I/AAAAAAAAEBw/CpkIMuccduo/s1600/20150207_123614.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Isn't it really intriguing? I mean you would definitely make an entrance in that!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And next up in my photo highlights tour- shoes! Here were my two favourite pairs. Wearing with attitude is a must :p they are pretty fierce. But what do you expect from an exhibition entitled women fashion power...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-msjDeUx-Hu8/VO3NhgOEtSI/AAAAAAAAEB4/xJh2-DXfNKQ/s1600/20150207_123812.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-msjDeUx-Hu8/VO3NhgOEtSI/AAAAAAAAEB4/xJh2-DXfNKQ/s1600/20150207_123812.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-imyRIRBl2cg/VO3Ns-6DirI/AAAAAAAAECA/6sSexwpVK94/s1600/20150207_124056.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-imyRIRBl2cg/VO3Ns-6DirI/AAAAAAAAECA/6sSexwpVK94/s1600/20150207_124056.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And lastly these brilliant hats- by the one and only Phillip Tracey of course :) The one comes across as like transforming you into a mystical bird but I might have to go with the one in the middle if I could only have one as that looks soo warm and it is still very cold! :p</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ltASeJawqls/VO3NvxYWbEI/AAAAAAAAECI/y2STl-RVUnY/s1600/20150207_124159.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ltASeJawqls/VO3NvxYWbEI/AAAAAAAAECI/y2STl-RVUnY/s1600/20150207_124159.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I would recommend a visit if you are near the design museum. There is tons more cool items to see that I couldn't possibly cover them all in this post :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
see you all again soon- with news of my show makes for college! Yes I am now on my first show- which is why I have been so busy these last few weeks. And I will also be bringing photos and news from Vodafone Fashion Weekend at Somerset House in london (as I visited in September) as I am heading there on Saturday! :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bye till then! Xxxxx</div>
<br />Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07599916287379585944noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3082522128496141619.post-91110024385982834942015-02-18T22:23:00.000+00:002015-02-18T22:23:47.813+00:00Fascinator tutorial- Final part 3!Hello everyone,<br />
<br />
Once again sorry for the long delay between the parts of this tutorial! But here is the final part at last :)<br />
<br />
So lets pick up where we left off then shall we? The last step covered was making up your lining, so now we can move on to sewing that inside your fascinator!<br />
<br />
You want the right side fabric out of course- then place your lining inside your fascinator, making sure you line up the seams (of the darts) of the outer fabric of your hat and your lining- for a really neat and professional finish. Then pin up your seam allowance of your lining so you get a clean edge all the way around and slip stitch (invisibly) your lining in place all the way around the edge of your fascinator.<br />
<br />
Hopefully that was easy to follow but here are some pictures as usual to help :):<br />
<br />
Here you can see I have slipstitched almost all the way round and can see how the lining sits nice and smoothly inside :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hIHFRcm1qR4/VOUKcB3BxhI/AAAAAAAAEAw/PXC6YfpalG8/s1600/20150212_213605_LLS%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hIHFRcm1qR4/VOUKcB3BxhI/AAAAAAAAEAw/PXC6YfpalG8/s1600/20150212_213605_LLS%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a close up so you can see how the seam allowances tuck inside the fascinator and you get a nice clean edge:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ppus9iBCBFA/VOULRh_sd6I/AAAAAAAAEA4/l0Kdj-iUfZc/s1600/20150212_213612_LLS%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ppus9iBCBFA/VOULRh_sd6I/AAAAAAAAEA4/l0Kdj-iUfZc/s1600/20150212_213612_LLS%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And as it was really hard to try and photograph the stages of slip stitch for those who don't know I found the following tutorial which shows how to work invisible slipstitch really clearly :):</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.instructables.com/id/Hand-Sewing-Basic-Slip-Stitch-Blind-Stitch/">http://www.instructables.com/id/Hand-Sewing-Basic-Slip-Stitch-Blind-Stitch/</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then the final part of your fascinator- yes you are almost done, keep going! :) Is to add a way to fasten it to your head/hair. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There are many ways this can be done- by sewing in a comb (you can get these on eBay etc..), or a length on elastic (either end attached to either side of the fascinator)- the elastic should be long enough to securely hold the hat in place and stretch underneath your hair running against the back nape of your neck.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
But one more method is to sew hair loops onto your fascinator, which you can then put hair pins through and into your hair to hold your hat down instead :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is really simple and just involves making a small length of chain stitch and sewing this into a loop. Repeat this in a few places around the brim of your fascinator (I just worked a loop either side :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is a tutorial which explains chain/loop stitch well (the beeswax is optional though :): <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n6hhZNinSM">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n6hhZNinSM</a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R5GdaNkxecM/VOUMNnyTkuI/AAAAAAAAEBA/u1LnfuEbPYk/s1600/20150212_214946%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-R5GdaNkxecM/VOUMNnyTkuI/AAAAAAAAEBA/u1LnfuEbPYk/s1600/20150212_214946%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And now you can be super proud of yourself as your fascinator is all done!!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SCxFwMKTzQ0/VOUMkCAkZUI/AAAAAAAAEBI/t2SurrgjTas/s1600/20150212_215008%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SCxFwMKTzQ0/VOUMkCAkZUI/AAAAAAAAEBI/t2SurrgjTas/s1600/20150212_215008%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Get out to a fancy party/event and show of your creation right away! :-P</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well done! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and if you have followed it I hope you like your finished fascinator!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Again if you have any questions or don't quite get any sections don't hesitate to leave a comment in the box below and I will reply and try to be as helpful as possible xxx</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I hope you are all well! Normal regular posting and the last part if the fascinator tutorial will resume soon just had quite a bit going on what with now being in shows at uni! It's all go!<br />
<br />
So do keep checking back and once again I hope you are all well xxx<br />
<br />
See you soon!Jordanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07599916287379585944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3082522128496141619.post-2150184775291757052015-02-02T22:52:00.000+00:002015-02-02T22:52:17.294+00:00Fascinator Tutorial- Part 2Hi everyone,<br />
<br />
Today I return with part 2 of the fascinator tutorial! (see previous post for part 1 :) Overall there will be three parts so watch out for the last post in this series coming soon after today!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now the last part ended with coating your hat base in fabric, so the next stage which we will start today with is adding decoration to your hat :) This is one of the funnest parts for many people- and there really aren't many rules so be as crazy and wild and creative as you wish! My decoration was made from a couple of small peacock/peahen feathers and a little brooch I have had in my random finds box for a while :P But you can use lace, beads, other types of feathers, bits of old jewellery- anything you want really.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
as I said there are fairly few rules- You can attach your decoration by sewing it on (go through both the buckram and outer fabric) or gluing it on- whatever seems most appropriate. Generally go for sewing feathers on and if their spines are wide enough sew through the spines to hold them down really securely :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So play around- see what works well and then fasten it in place:</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hgob3qgfino/VM_zwWheFJI/AAAAAAAAD_g/yhjiX8yc41s/s1600/20150125_184054%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hgob3qgfino/VM_zwWheFJI/AAAAAAAAD_g/yhjiX8yc41s/s1600/20150125_184054%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once you have fully beautified your hat you can then move onto cutting out your lining.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So choose your lining fabric and then find your base hat pattern again, and in the same way you did for your outer hat fabric cut around your template- adding an extra 1.5cm seam allowance around the edge and again not cutting out the darts- just mark them with tailor tacks or chalk again:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DeyWLxv7u8o/VM_0KfNG8YI/AAAAAAAAD_o/8ZEimg5BLjw/s1600/20150125_170553%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DeyWLxv7u8o/VM_0KfNG8YI/AAAAAAAAD_o/8ZEimg5BLjw/s1600/20150125_170553%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then sew up the darts in your lining:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H_CpE-jQnbk/VM_2JLgVaDI/AAAAAAAAD_0/9c_h1aiZJks/s1600/20150125_170746%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-H_CpE-jQnbk/VM_2JLgVaDI/AAAAAAAAD_0/9c_h1aiZJks/s1600/20150125_170746%5B1%5D.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once again, and as you did for your outer hat fabric, press the darts towards the back.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And we will stop there for today! But just to check you should have your main hat base coated in fabric and decorated and your lining all made up :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next time we will cover sewing in your lining, adding hair loops, or a comb or elastic to allow you to wear you hat! and possibly some other random bits and bobs too!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
See you again soon with all that!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bye XxXxX</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As promised I am back today with part one of my fascinator tutorial! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I gave you a nseak peak yesterday but here it is again, this is the fascinator shape/type Ill be working through with you:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZULvg1jU1rI/VMgO8FxEAcI/AAAAAAAAD80/kK4BUKDInrQ/s1600/20150125_183928%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ZULvg1jU1rI/VMgO8FxEAcI/AAAAAAAAD80/kK4BUKDInrQ/s1600/20150125_183928%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is a fascinator which has a buckram (a type of stiffened woven fabric) base though many fascinators are made completely from sinamay (the more traditional light more loosely woven stiffened fabric).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>So here are a list of materials you will need:</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Some card or paper</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- A pen/pencil</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- A few pins</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Scissors</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- A ruler</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Some buckram or other stiffened fabric for your hat base</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Some fabric of your choice for coating and lining your hat</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- A length of millinery wire (or craft/DIY may suit the purpose- you can experiment with whatever you have :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Thread and a needle (some beeswax to pull your thread through is optional)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Uhu glue , Copydex glue or Bostik multipurpose craft glue. All will do the job :P</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
- Some decoration of your choice e.g. feathers, brooches etc.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<u>And now here is how to begin:</u></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
1. First it is good to draft up/drape your hat pattern in paper first. This shape of hat starts with an oval, which two darts are then taken out of, one either end, to create the final shape. You can go with any size oval you like but here is the piece I cut out with the dimensions written on it so you can follow this exactly if you wish, or draft up something similar:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ArMLx80BhSI/VMk1QCLMoPI/AAAAAAAAD9A/EYDHCdEK_GY/s1600/20150125_094613%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ArMLx80BhSI/VMk1QCLMoPI/AAAAAAAAD9A/EYDHCdEK_GY/s1600/20150125_094613%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
2. Make sure you have cut up into the 5cm at either end as these are the places you will now be overlapping to work out the size of the darts you want to create your shape:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eGjZ7XDuaQY/VMk11230cyI/AAAAAAAAD9I/fUgNX8VDK6I/s1600/20150125_093909%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-eGjZ7XDuaQY/VMk11230cyI/AAAAAAAAD9I/fUgNX8VDK6I/s1600/20150125_093909%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XJBIHi3N1s8/VMk2VMsgSKI/AAAAAAAAD9U/HsbgD0bftUs/s1600/20150125_093837%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XJBIHi3N1s8/VMk2VMsgSKI/AAAAAAAAD9U/HsbgD0bftUs/s1600/20150125_093837%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
3. Try pinning and overlapping by different amounts until you are happy with the shape- but make sure the darts are both the same size (and that the overlaps run the same- towards the back) otherwise your hat could look lopsided :P There is no set measurement for the size of the darts- just whatever you think creates a nice shape! (I found 2cm worked well for me :).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
4. But whatever works well make sure to take a pencil and mark where your overlaps run until so that when you undo your pattern, you will see the two pencil lines and can add 1.5cm seam allowance- the seam allowance tapers to nothing at the point of the dart though. If this sounds confusing hopefully the following picture of the final hat pattern will clear it up for you :):</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FP61FIrK_TE/VMk3Us2sEMI/AAAAAAAAD9c/7cCa1Re_CRw/s1600/20150125_095149%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FP61FIrK_TE/VMk3Us2sEMI/AAAAAAAAD9c/7cCa1Re_CRw/s1600/20150125_095149%5B1%5D.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
5. Use your finalised pattern (above) to cut out your buckram base for your hat:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Y_VD8MPDGBo/VMk34pIVUVI/AAAAAAAAD9k/Q0_SECMu_P0/s1600/20150125_100500%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Y_VD8MPDGBo/VMk34pIVUVI/AAAAAAAAD9k/Q0_SECMu_P0/s1600/20150125_100500%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
6. You can the take this piece and overlap the darts (by the 1.5 cm seam allowance) and the oversew them down using your needle and thread:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ugrIu0HsA7s/VMk4fucsZtI/AAAAAAAAD9w/Nl2hs-c8gCw/s1600/20150125_102041%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ugrIu0HsA7s/VMk4fucsZtI/AAAAAAAAD9w/Nl2hs-c8gCw/s1600/20150125_102041%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
7. Next cut a length of millinery wire long enough to go around the base of your fascinator plus a few cm overlap. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MY5qAKHMzCc/VMk46FOyZXI/AAAAAAAAD94/EW-v4Eicu88/s1600/20150125_163859%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MY5qAKHMzCc/VMk46FOyZXI/AAAAAAAAD94/EW-v4Eicu88/s1600/20150125_163859%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
8. Then sew your wire just on the inside of your base using a blanket stitch. When you get back round to where the wire overlaps lay one end just under the other and work your blanket stitches closer together to hold the ends of the wire in place securely.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f4nUMN7b2Vc/VMk5waTd8xI/AAAAAAAAD-E/C8intnd2wEk/s1600/20150125_164723%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f4nUMN7b2Vc/VMk5waTd8xI/AAAAAAAAD-E/C8intnd2wEk/s1600/20150125_164723%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
9. Your hat base should then look like this:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5wNDdgvL5Xw/VMk6UM---FI/AAAAAAAAD-M/DOlh-5ybjcY/s1600/20150125_165731%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5wNDdgvL5Xw/VMk6UM---FI/AAAAAAAAD-M/DOlh-5ybjcY/s1600/20150125_165731%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
10. Next cut your outer fabric- you do this using the same pattern as you did for your hat base- but add 1.5cm all the way around it as seam allowance and don't cut out the sections for the darts!!! Just use tailors tacks or chalk etc.. to mark the ends and point of the darts so you know where to sew the darts!:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LxM-DArvrRw/VMk7KAU31iI/AAAAAAAAD-Y/0Fa7ekUH45Y/s1600/20150125_170553%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MpChAH2clO4/VMk7nb1ZYkI/AAAAAAAAD-g/vDFBWQt0a9U/s1600/20150125_171919%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MpChAH2clO4/VMk7nb1ZYkI/AAAAAAAAD-g/vDFBWQt0a9U/s1600/20150125_171919%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
11. sew in the darts- on the wrong side of your fabric of course and then press them towards the back:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MrQXKW6JkLc/VMk9V93N6HI/AAAAAAAAD_A/gNCURzbiNg8/s1600/20150125_180454%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MrQXKW6JkLc/VMk9V93N6HI/AAAAAAAAD_A/gNCURzbiNg8/s1600/20150125_180454%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
12. Then take your hat base and snugly fit your outer hat fabric covering over the top. It may seem a bit awkward or like it won't go at times but I assure you it will- you want a nice smooth snug fit- not bagginess! :P</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
13. Then take your Uhu (or other glue) and stick down your 1.5cm seam allowance all the way around the inside of your hat. Then leave it for a short while to dry of course :)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KPzpol4HyRk/VMk8FBVHNeI/AAAAAAAAD-o/VCbFwECzmd0/s1600/20150125_180625%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KPzpol4HyRk/VMk8FBVHNeI/AAAAAAAAD-o/VCbFwECzmd0/s1600/20150125_180625%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bMYTTeEmxY8/VMk9zOhl7oI/AAAAAAAAD_I/dUGwYmKudmU/s1600/20150125_181313%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bMYTTeEmxY8/VMk9zOhl7oI/AAAAAAAAD_I/dUGwYmKudmU/s1600/20150125_181313%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
That is it for the first half of the tutorial but I will return shortly with the other half which covers decorating you hat and adding a lining and hair loops.... see you soon!</div>

<br />
It has been too long since my last post- time has been flying now I'm back at college! Especially since I have been so focused on making progress in our latest on going project making one of the dresses from Janet Arnold's Patterns of Fashion Books. I chose to make a Victorian promenade ensemble (from book 2). I scaled up my patterns from the tiny ones in the book and then went fabric shopping to try and find materials close to the original materials used. After that I did a bit of toiling and have now begun making up. I have finished my sleeves completely- they took 3 days by themselves- so much hand sewing due to pieces being so small you cant really do them under the machine practically.<br />
<br />
Here is the original Victorian dress, the image is from the V and A website where the garment is held in the archives:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JDjNYk4Qxyg/VMFoOW6biuI/AAAAAAAAD8g/XbsnpYMp9rQ/s1600/55034-large%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JDjNYk4Qxyg/VMFoOW6biuI/AAAAAAAAD8g/XbsnpYMp9rQ/s1600/55034-large%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="291" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And here are my kind of replica half scale sleeves:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P-yqqWVEWFs/VMFn0TsIopI/AAAAAAAAD8Y/fHZPUOnJDtg/s1600/20150121_143302%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P-yqqWVEWFs/VMFn0TsIopI/AAAAAAAAD8Y/fHZPUOnJDtg/s1600/20150121_143302%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am quite proud of them :) Now I just need to get on and make the rest of the ensemble... in between starting on my first make for a show production which starts next week! :D Ahhh, Yayaya I'm very excited about that!!! (can you tell!? haha)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Also soon I will be bringing you all a mini fascinator tutorial upon suggestion by one of my lovely readers Mel makes! So look out for that :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Speak to you all again soon and I hope you are all super well,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Bye XxXxXxX</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

Hello everyone,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope your first few weeks of 2015 have been as fun and amazing as you wish the year to continue :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am now back at college, so back to more a bit more (mostly enjoyable :P) hecticness. Which Is why I was glad I made some more progress on my blue Hat I started on new years- before I had to hit the books again :P</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I managed to get the lace pieces sewn on that I chose as my decoration:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You may recognise the lace motifs... they are from one of the dresses I picked up from the costume store sale a while ago :P I really like the pattern of the lace and have found so many things so far that it compliments, including the blue velvety fabric of this hat (which is actually from a spare curtain :P).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also managed to squeeze in the time to make this little fascinator of my own design:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LJNnwsPPeSY/VLQ6NCYaouI/AAAAAAAAD70/ljCPuNhYvmM/s1600/20150111_173940%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LJNnwsPPeSY/VLQ6NCYaouI/AAAAAAAAD70/ljCPuNhYvmM/s1600/20150111_173940%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F8E3aqxSva0/VLQ5Ua8O0SI/AAAAAAAAD7s/jM5R213QKCg/s1600/20150111_173946%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F8E3aqxSva0/VLQ5Ua8O0SI/AAAAAAAAD7s/jM5R213QKCg/s1600/20150111_173946%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The main fabric coating this fascinator was another of my costume store bargains- they have all come in so useful! The leopard print fabric was from a shirt I didn't really need any more and I got the little metal charms when I was in the IOW one time. It was fun designing my first fascinator- From materials and a shape which seemed quite crazy it came out with the sophisticated but quirky factor I was aiming for I think :P I am happy... now I just need an event to wear it to! Haha :-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Speak to you all again soon,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
I hope the first few days of 2015 have been as fabulous as you mean for them to go on! :)<br />
I Haven't made lots of resolutions this year, just 2 main ones. To develop my skills as a costumier further and do well on my course and to keep working on becoming a better, happier and more positive person to be around. They will keep me busy enough for the year I think though!<br />
<br />
I have started the first one off with a bang by getting to work and using some of the millinery materials I got for christmas on starting to make a new hat. It is inspired by a 1950s style fashion interpretation of a sailors hat.<br />
<br />
First I modelled it in card to check fit and proportion /look:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YHynGjNHadg/VKhqu8GrLfI/AAAAAAAAD7A/ttk9pEUboI4/s1600/20150101_104508.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YHynGjNHadg/VKhqu8GrLfI/AAAAAAAAD7A/ttk9pEUboI4/s1600/20150101_104508.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hCtSw0oIYyg/VKhqxwVhSeI/AAAAAAAAD7I/YbkTTvfa8HM/s1600/20150101_104457.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hCtSw0oIYyg/VKhqxwVhSeI/AAAAAAAAD7I/YbkTTvfa8HM/s1600/20150101_104457.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After posing round the house in my cardboard model I then got onto cutting out the buckram pieces, attaching the wire Around the crown and the brim, coating all the pieces in fabric using glue as necessary... which left me a bit messy :p And now after several hours of hand sewing I am on the verge of having a completed hat! Look:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pQNrXR6h7O4/VKhr-IeMwEI/AAAAAAAAD7U/1qRu4_KPVtQ/s1600/20150103_215730.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pQNrXR6h7O4/VKhr-IeMwEI/AAAAAAAAD7U/1qRu4_KPVtQ/s1600/20150103_215730.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Rzq6OGyVPWU/VKhsCElOG4I/AAAAAAAAD7c/Y4UxeWNpPc4/s1600/20150103_215829.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Rzq6OGyVPWU/VKhsCElOG4I/AAAAAAAAD7c/Y4UxeWNpPc4/s1600/20150103_215829.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just lining, inside petersham band, hair loops and a bit of decoration if I choose so :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Haha hat making is very addictive. I want to make a bonnet next!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm off to bed now so I can finish my hat in the morning... possibly running into the afternoon :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Speak to you all again soon! And once again Happy new year my friends!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bye xxx</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">Hi everyone, </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is a Happy Belated Christmas post as my Internet was down for a short while. So first off I'd like to say that I hope you all had a fabulous christmas!!! :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And next, as we have passed the christmas period I can bring you a picture of the contents of the crafty christmas advent Calendar;</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uQ2zEVRwZx4/VKLxKXK5qRI/AAAAAAAAD6w/fv-71b_V3iU/s1600/20141026_092731.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uQ2zEVRwZx4/VKLxKXK5qRI/AAAAAAAAD6w/fv-71b_V3iU/s1600/20141026_092731.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now onto a little bit about my Christmas, I had a lovely day with my family eating a delicious Christmas dinner cooked by my dad :D And then there was lots of present exchanging which is always fun too! Everyone was so generous and I got some lovely presents :-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I got a wig stand (in my size :) which is extremely useful for testing hat patterns on:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8M2lGsiuWpU/VKLq1yrQ8-I/AAAAAAAAD6I/xdCmDwnHSBQ/s1600/20141226_192723.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8M2lGsiuWpU/VKLq1yrQ8-I/AAAAAAAAD6I/xdCmDwnHSBQ/s1600/20141226_192723.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then I got lots of hat making materials So I can get to work and make a range of hats and fascinators using my new hat books I also got for inspiration:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D4SdQQa4djE/VKLq_CsExgI/AAAAAAAAD6Q/JNtmog5W9y8/s1600/20141226_192745.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-D4SdQQa4djE/VKLq_CsExgI/AAAAAAAAD6Q/JNtmog5W9y8/s1600/20141226_192745.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also got a book on wedding traditions in different cultures. I have learnt so much from it already! All the information will come in really useful for my 3rd year project I plan to do so I have been taking notes as I read :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
my last present I want to show you is my sylvainian families harvester. This is an older sylvanian family set so my family had to put quite a bit if effort into sourcing it! I thought it was really cute though and filled with all my sylvainian people and a bit of extra food and look at my bustling bistro!:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-J_NXybi6ZtI/VKLrAPIRctI/AAAAAAAAD6Y/k2XhVpX-TBI/s1600/20141226_165723.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-J_NXybi6ZtI/VKLrAPIRctI/AAAAAAAAD6Y/k2XhVpX-TBI/s1600/20141226_165723.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My last bit of christmas news I bring you is of the hats I helped my family make for christmas eve for fun. I used my new millinery skills. My hat is the crazy stripy one in the middle!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
:p they were all based on historical styles I was really making everyone be a costume nerd :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

Hi everyone, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On Saturday my family and over some food friends for a dinner party :) Each time they come over- especially at Christmas I like to make some little table favours :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This year I decided to implement some of my new found knowledge from the different skill weeks at college- I used printing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I cut out my own little design of a star stencil and then printed 8 of them onto calico using some gold Dylan fabric paint though the stencil with a brush- a different method to college as I didn't quite have all the proper equipment :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I then ironed them once dry to affix the paint fully, before backing with Christmassy fabric, placing ribbon between the two layers then sewing around.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lastly I pinking sheared around them to stop fraying and give a simple decorative looking edge. And voila, my little decorations were then complete; </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Vil0ERzK_SM/VJiJYIJ_5QI/AAAAAAAAD5g/AwAoN1eL1-o/s1600/20141220_131748.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Vil0ERzK_SM/VJiJYIJ_5QI/AAAAAAAAD5g/AwAoN1eL1-o/s1600/20141220_131748.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CIUmvr4Ho38/VJiJj2_wY-I/AAAAAAAAD5w/nRDdmm3RFGg/s1600/20141220_131958.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CIUmvr4Ho38/VJiJj2_wY-I/AAAAAAAAD5w/nRDdmm3RFGg/s1600/20141220_131958.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J9YGP_qnpdE/VJiJoqRNBSI/AAAAAAAAD54/6mKGnbLaNc8/s1600/20141220_132019.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J9YGP_qnpdE/VJiJoqRNBSI/AAAAAAAAD54/6mKGnbLaNc8/s1600/20141220_132019.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think they looked nice on the table and they got some compliments so I was very happy :) they were also fairly quick to make due to some simple stencil printing being there main feature. I will definitely be experimenting further with this technique :-)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Christmassy crafting really got me into the festive spirit too! It is soo close to Christmas now- I can't wait! I hope you are all doing well and are happy,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
see you soon,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Bye xoxoxo</div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope you are all well and starting to get into the Christmas spirit as that is not far around the corner!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today Is just a quick post again- but I do assure you they will start getting longer no I have finished college for Christmas and I don't have the end of year hecticness. I mean I need to return to wigs to tell you all about how to work some crazy updos! :P</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But back to the topic of today- Dancewear! Yes, this was the last week as part of my series of 4 weeks at college covering different disciplines within the area of costume.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We got to choose to make either a leotard or a catsuit in a design of our choice. We had to be realistic with our choices though as we only had 4 days to complete them- including pattern drafting and fittings.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I chose to make a leotard, and kind of wanted to go with something that looked suitable for a gymnast (We could take inspiration from dance or sports). We made them for ourselves which means I got to parade around in mine on Friday (I looked a bit silly but it was fun!)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here it is, I kept it quite understated but there is a flash of sequined fabric at the collar and cuffs to give it a bit of pzazz! :0P</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bsP2fFmrB7c/VJCmHRTXLpI/AAAAAAAAD5Q/zpiDxTd2znk/s1600/20141212_161524%5B1%5D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bsP2fFmrB7c/VJCmHRTXLpI/AAAAAAAAD5Q/zpiDxTd2znk/s1600/20141212_161524%5B1%5D.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It was quite high cut- a little bit 80s aerobics but it fit well in the end so that made me happy. I had never worked with stretch fabrics before last week so it was good to start learn the techniques :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Hi everyone,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Just quick a quick post again today (I promise they will get longer soon!). I just wanted to show you the last couple of the wig styles I worked on last week in college :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First up is the style I designed for the character titania (the fairy queen) for Shakespeare play midsummer nights dream. Well all designed and worked on a wig for different characters so by the end of the day it was like we had the whole casts hair :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was really proud of mine as hair is not something I am user talented at and before starting the week I never could have imagined I would be able to achieve anything like it from just a straight hair wig!:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mTljW4JnI34/VIdu9Oo2uXI/AAAAAAAAD4Y/YJJOSZQanAE/s1600/20141204_144624.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mTljW4JnI34/VIdu9Oo2uXI/AAAAAAAAD4Y/YJJOSZQanAE/s1600/20141204_144624.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BPC0wTn1r38/VIdvNtzE_aI/AAAAAAAAD4o/SlH4I3Ct6vM/s1600/20141204_145052.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BPC0wTn1r38/VIdvNtzE_aI/AAAAAAAAD4o/SlH4I3Ct6vM/s1600/20141204_145052.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span id="goog_216640787"></span><span id="goog_216640788"></span><br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And then here are a couple of shots of the finger waves me and a friend managed to do:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hSBsSmMUF1U/VIdvn9IxsbI/AAAAAAAAD44/OyhGwP4HDhs/s1600/20141205_111214.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hSBsSmMUF1U/VIdvn9IxsbI/AAAAAAAAD44/OyhGwP4HDhs/s1600/20141205_111214.jpg" height="320" width="180" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="line-height: normal;">They were a super popular style in the 1920s and another thing I an proud to say I can know do!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="line-height: normal;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As promised I will bring more info on how these wee achieved if anyone fancies potentially sporting one if these styles :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This is a really quick post as it has been too long since I posted but I don't quite have time to go into all the detail I want to.. yet! As I mentioned last time I post this week I am working on wig dressing in college. It is such a new and exciting experience for me as seriously I have 2 styles hair down or hair up in a ponytail- I know nothing else :p<br />
<br />
But look at the fancy styles I have been being taught how to create:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Speak to you all soon,</div>

<br />
The title of this post pretty much tells you what I have been doing all this week :p Yes, I have just finished the second week of the skills carousel I am currently completing at uni.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
We started the week by learning about dying. This was pretty interesting as it is something I have never really done before properly (just with kool aid on some wool! :p). We learnt how to colour match- to dye fabrics to be the same colour as seen in a picture or painting etc. Then we practised some different dying techniques such as ombre (a gradual colour change from light to dark up/down the fabric) and patch dying (different colours of dyes applied/layered onto the fabric in a blotchy way).</div>
<br />
Here is my ombre sample:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yeocMIbDwxE/VHI9RJofcOI/AAAAAAAAD1w/9xuLetBBYsY/s1600/1416772825466.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yeocMIbDwxE/VHI9RJofcOI/AAAAAAAAD1w/9xuLetBBYsY/s1600/1416772825466.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is my patch dying sample:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s2p1cKOEHik/VHI9deTPUAI/AAAAAAAAD14/qpA40oQN-p4/s1600/1416772943325.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s2p1cKOEHik/VHI9deTPUAI/AAAAAAAAD14/qpA40oQN-p4/s1600/1416772943325.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
patch dying is a good method to use when breaking down as it can make things look old and distressed depending on the colours you use.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Talking about breaking down, that is what we moved onto next. We all had to pick an image of a character wearing a broken down costume from a film or play. I chose my image from the original piranha movie as I love that film :D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here was my shirt before it was met by sandpaper, fabric paint, a Stanley knife etc.:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hf0f5pVZKpg/VHI_UOgFx1I/AAAAAAAAD2E/AYO8diO98HY/s1600/20141119_112552.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hf0f5pVZKpg/VHI_UOgFx1I/AAAAAAAAD2E/AYO8diO98HY/s1600/20141119_112552.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DkvDDkoWfM4/VHI_cTp9HtI/AAAAAAAAD2M/6CPDZFriFB0/s1600/20141119_111555.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DkvDDkoWfM4/VHI_cTp9HtI/AAAAAAAAD2M/6CPDZFriFB0/s1600/20141119_111555.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is it after:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4BVkRiLhcDE/VHJAPTDGNAI/AAAAAAAAD2s/KYXDlJzYkKg/s1600/20141119_162751.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4BVkRiLhcDE/VHJAPTDGNAI/AAAAAAAAD2s/KYXDlJzYkKg/s1600/20141119_162751.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am really proud with how it came out as breaking down was something I found quite challenging at times. You have to try and be realistic and make things like the blood look realistic and build it up in layers- I am not great at art/painting so it was quite hard to get something that didn't just look like a halloween costume I made in 5 mins! Even the stages you have to curve at the ends and fray slightly so they don't just look like you did then with a knife. I liked putting my shirt on once it had dried- I felt like an extra from the movie :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And now last but not least printing. Again something I had never done properly before but and it was a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting experience. Cutting out my stencils were a bit fiddly but in the end I was happy with the effect/pattern I achieved, and it was cool to play around with the metallic paints, foil and puff paints.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are my finished samples and printed tshirt:</div>

Hi everyone,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At college at the moment we are on our carousel of different costume techniques that don't feature as part of the day to day of our course :) We get to do one week of millinery, dance ear , dying and breaking down and also a week of wig dressing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The week of millinery has just gone and it was such an interesting and enjoyable week. As some of you may remember I did a millinery course at the London college of fashion last summer. That course mainly focused on blocking techniques, whereas the week just gone at college we looked at cutting and shaping buckram to make hats- something much more achieve able at home without too much special equipment. I was so pleased with the result. We had to focus on the period of the 19th century to base out hat designs on. Here is the reference image I chose as a starting point for my hat, I found it in a book in the library: </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I didn't make my hat from straw however as I wanted to try fabric covering it so I went with a kind of golden straw coloured velvet instead.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is my final hat, I was really proud of it. Everyone else's was amazing too- it was amazing to see all thst had been produced in just a week!:</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is pretty big- you would need a lot if hairpins through the loops I sewed in to hold it down!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As this post was millinery themed, I thought it would be a good time to show you the fascinator I was making outside college that I just finished :-) It was from a kit from Hats on Heads (a millinery company- I bought two more of their kits from create and craft as well). It was pretty fun to make and not too much of it was given to you pre - done so I did actually lean quite a few skills. Here it is:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tRIpkT0ZuI8/VGfY-bwjc5I/AAAAAAAAD1U/yNdpxXWHk-g/s1600/20141105_213922.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tRIpkT0ZuI8/VGfY-bwjc5I/AAAAAAAAD1U/yNdpxXWHk-g/s1600/20141105_213922.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now I just need an occasion to wear it to! :p</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
