Eyelets and phones

 Hi,

I hope your weeks are all going well :) I am happy with how my corset is going in college so that is good, I will show you some more pictures after I have completed the next few steps as then it should really be coming together.

 

This week I have also been working on my 1/2 scale red dress that I designed and draped, I have been hand sewing the little eyelets down the back so then I can lace the dress up with red ribbon:

 

 

It is going well- only about 18 left to go :P They are soo small as they have to be 1/2 normal eyelet size to be in correct scale. I think I may have placed them slightly too close to the edge to be in correct scale but not majorly so it will be ok, no one is actually going to wear it so there won't be much strain on them.

 

In other news last weekend I got a new phone! :D A red Samsung Galaxy s4 to be exact. It was a big step up from my old phone, that I had had since I was 10 and so old the guy in Carphone warehouse said the makers had gone out of business, lol :P I have been spending time this week trying to get used to all its amazing functions. I downloaded several free bridal dress catalogues to flick through as extra research for my new work experience and tons of other stuff, it is helping me to get more done each day which is good. I really love my new phone but am really protective over it as I don't want to damage it! Hehe Sunday I made a case really quickly from a sock I hadn't worn and added a kawaii hello kitty button to keep it safe:

 

 

Hehe, now though I have an case which is apparently what the army use to protect their gadgets from rain, sand, you name it- it is virtually indestructible!

 

Hehe, I am off to bed now, I need to get a good sleep so I can power through my corset sewing again tomorrow,

I won a giveaway!

Hello everyone,

 

Last week I was very happily surprised to find out that I was one of the lucky winners of Stephs mystery giveaway prizes!!! :oD

 

I was soo excited and was not at all disappointed when my fantastic parcel arrived a couple of days ago- look! :D:

 



 

I really really love the nakd bars so was very pleased when I pulled one of them out of the envelope!

 

The brooches Steph made are absolutely beautiful- they go perfectly in my brooch collection :) I can't wait to start wearing them :-)

 

All the little charms are super kawaii too:

 

I have lots of ideas of how to use them :o)

In other news I finished my mums kindle case:

 

She really liked it and hasn't stopped using it since I gave it to her :) Hehe, I was pleased with the fit seen as I didn't get a chance to do a 'fitting' as I made it whilst I was away at uni.

 

Im off now to keep working on the new items I am working on to go in my shop soon....

A WIP for my mum and it's Circus time...!

I hope everyones week is going well so far!

 

This week I started a new knitting project, something for my mum actually- a Kindle fire case :-) She got a kindle Fire HD from my dad for Christmas and a hard case to protect it, but I thought I would knit her a pretty case to slip it into when she takes it on holiday etc...

 

I came up with a style and colour in my head, then looked through my knitting stitch calendar from a couple of years ago to find the kind of stitch I wanted. Here is it so far: 

 

 

It will have the cables running all the way up and then ribbing at the top, and to add the final finishing touch I am going to sew this little hedgehog cross stitch that I am working on too:

 

It is another mouseloft kit- just in case anyone thinks he is cute and wants to start stitching him for themselves :P

 

This week for me is installation week at college- all the people on technical courses (like me :) have to work in groups to make a little exhibition piece thing and this years theme for the installations is fairgrounds/carnivals etc... so me and my group decided to make ours about a circus. Our piece gets a bit dark in places and we have lights and sound etc.. to convey our story but today we got our torn poster wall we planned up- it looks pretty good, I helped out with editing some of the old style posters we found and then distressing them with teabags and stuff- it was fun! Here it is:

 

 

Hehehe- still more to do for our piece, including putting out and focusing the lights onto the jars with little circus scenes in that me and a girl from theatre design put together. We will get there ready for showing them on Thursday and Friday though!

Pom-Pom headphone case/ trinket box: FREE PATTERN!

Konichiwa!

Like I promised here is the pattern for the pom-pom box I created recently :)

You will need:

• Cream worsted/ Aran Weight Yarn (for case)
• A small amount of embroidery thread (to sew on button)
• A small/medium sized clear button
• A small amount of DK yarn the same colour as embroidery thread (for pom pom)
• A 3.5 mm crochet hook

Top:

rnd 1: Make a magic ring, 6dc (6sts)
rnd 2: 2dc into each st (12sts)
rnd 3: *1dc, 2dc into next st* Repeat from * to * around (18 sts)
rnd 4: *2dc, 2dc into next st* Repeat from * to * around (24 sts)
rnd 5: *3dc, 2dc into next st* Repeat from * to * around (30sts)
rnd 6 -8 : 1dc into each st around (30sts)
When rnd 8 is completed ch 5 and slst into 2nd chain from hook. This completes button loop. Depending on the button size this may need to be smaller or larger so please check.


Bottom:

rnd 1: Make a magic ring, 6dc (6sts)
rnd 2: 2dc into each st (12sts)
rnd 3: *1dc, 2dc into next st* Repeat from * to * around (18 sts)
rnd 4: *2dc, 2dc into next st* Repeat from * to * around (24 sts)
rnd 5- 8: 1dc into each st around (24sts)
Fasten off.

To make up:

Overlap top and bottom half slighlty and sew together, sew about a length of 1 cm at the back of case (opposite button loop) The case should now open and close with the seam acting as a hinge. Darn in any lose ends. Close the case fully, the bottom half should roll up inside top half slightly. Mark the position of the button, by using position of loop as a guide and sew button to case using embroidery thread. Make pom pom and sew to top of case. if pom pom is too large trim slighlty.

Voila! you now have a new little pom-pom box :) enjoy..............................
