My first Mochi Mochi

Hello everyone,

On Sunday me and my family went round my dads friends house, for Christmas him and his wife and kids got me a copy of the Mochi Mochi knitting book. All the stuff is very cute but as of yet I hadn't got round to making anything from it. I wanted to make something to take round but couldn't think of what, then I thought why not make a decoration out of one of the mini Mochi Mochis in the book! I had a look through and decided to make on the mushrooms (I left out the little side mushroom and just made the big one part). I was quite pleased with how it came out, especially as it was my first time of using DPNs too (Yay, I learnt a new skill! :P):

He matched the blue bag we took some other favours in too :)

Mr mini mushroom was liked alot, especially by my dads friends wife :0)

Farmyard swap :0)

Hola,

This month's theme for the cute and quirky swap I run on Ravelry was 'Fantastic farmyard'. I was super excited about this swap as I haven't taken part in one in agesss! My partner, Keri recieved here parcel from me on Monday so now I get to show you what I made/sent her....

Hehehe :0) Keri said she liked pigs so I tried to find the cutest pattern I could. This little piggy was made from a Annie Obaachan pattern and I added a bow to try to boost the cute factor even more! Keri liked her so I was happy :D

And today I came home and my parcel was waiting for me so I was happy once again!!! Look at all this super cool stuff I got:

- A super soft knitted duckie dishcloth :3

- some farmyard note paper and envelopes

- A piggy tape meausre

- A pretty butterfly trolley coin

- And a beautful quilled cow card!

Swap parcel and a prize package! :)

The day after I got my lovely birthday present from Laura the postman delivered my cute 'n' quirky swap parcel from Odds0cks! :D This months theme was sweets and treats, here's what I got!:

Lovely birthday package! :D

Hi!

Today I got home from school to find a very large parcel waiting for me :) It was a birthday gift from the very lovely (and newly-wed! :) Laura from Cute Crocheted Creations.

Excitedly I opened the parcel to find all these wonderful gifts!!!!:

All my presents were wrapped in cute dinosaur wrapping paper and Laura even included a little goody bag from her wedding containing some of the beautiful leaves that her mum made which decorated the wedding tables :-)

Here are some of my gifts up close :0):

I love these two guys, they are soo sweet! I'm putting them on my school bag zip to make me smile every day :)

Laura also made me this cool charm, and pair of stitch markers which will come in

 very handy when making amigurumi!

The socks are so darn cute! and really snuggly too :0) And I was like 'WOW!' when I saw the lemon scented embroidery thread :P

I've already started thinking of what projects to use all these buttons and charms on, my fave is the little silver froggy! I had to carry all of them to my room in the cute lemon purse to prevent losing any of them!



Laura Started me on cross stitch and now she is helping me continue by adding to my cross stitch kit stash! :o)  I was really happy when I saw the little Hello Kitty figure as I have a mini collection of them and now I have one more!

Thank you Laura for all the amazing gifts!!! The parcel made my day :D

I'm off now to admire all my prezzies from afar as I finish my homework. Then I'm off to go an be a guide at the open evening at school for upcoming year 7's :)

Wacky weather swap parcel!

Marshmallow clouds! :3

Yolah!

The other day I reallllly wanted to make an amigurumi cloud, don't ask me why... I'm just a bit crazy! :0)

I went on Ravelry to try and find a pattern but I couldn't  find one for the kind of thing I wanted to make so I created my own pattern for what I like to call marshmallow clouds :3

 It took quite a few tries to get the pattern right, the first one I made came out basically as a triangle and the second was really flat, but I got there in the end:

This is the vanilla marshmallow cloud and then I went on and created the strawberry and mint marshmallow clouds!

Once I made one I couldn't stop, I want to make a whole collection of them, all in different flavours (colours) :)  

Next I want to make a grape (purple) marshmallow cloud and also make a blueberry (blue) one too.....

.......ooohhhh and a butter cream/lemon one (yellow), and a licorice (black) one! ooh, ooh, ooh and a candy floss (light pink) one!!!

Where are they now? : 2011 knitting and crochet blog week! (Day 4)

Yo! :D

Today the post is about the fates of past projects, basically where all the yarny items live now, enjoy....

Rice ball!!!! and Tiny the little circus elephant live on my special shelf with my collection of brooches and other handmade bits and bobs.They like it there as they have lots of friends to talk to :)

My mum has both her kindle cases in her room and uses them regulary to keep her kindle nice and snug!

My dad keeps the little halloween pumpkin I made him on his baking shelf in the kitchen. The kitchen is where keeps lots of the little items I make him as he spends alot of his time there each day ( making cakes, breakfast and dinners etc..) so he gets to enjoy them :D

The bunting I made him ages ago is also up on the wall in the kitchen:



I regularly use the slippers I made with the Hello kitty buttons and they are on the end of my bed with my pyjamas :0)

And finally the new home of my Red Nose Day monster is tucked up nice and tightly in my bed,

Birthday Panda :o3

Hi guys,

Today is my friends birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYY :D

I wanted to make her something special so I had a look through some patterns and thought I would make a panda from the latest book I bought; Amigurumi animals by Annie Obaachan.

I started to make him and finished the body fine but then all of the other body parts I made (apart from the eye patches and ears) seemed to come up the wrong size e.g. the head came out the size of a ping pong ball!

I had to create parts of the pattern myself so he came out in the right proportions but I got there in the end:

I was so pleased when my friend liked her gift :)

He is definitely going to a good home!

I got her some other stuff to including a heart cookie baking kit and a little box of hello kitty gum :D

Its my brothers birthday coming up really soon, and mothers day so I've gotta get a move on to get gifts etc.... sorted for those special days too,

Mini ami circus elephant: 2nd February pattern!

Hola!

The time has come, I have for you now the second free pattern of February! Hes special and he's small and you can make your own, a mini amigurumi circus elephant :)

This little guy is about 3 inches from tail to trunk and can be made in only a couple of hours.

Here's how......

You will need:

• Some DK yarn in silvery/greyey blue (For elephant body, ears and feet)
• Some DK yarn in red or whatever colour you wish (For seat cover on elephant)
• A 3.5mm crochet hook
• A pair of 3.25mm knitting needles
• Two small cream/pearly beads for eyes
• 1 small star sequin/confetti/gem and 2 larger ones (or whatever you wish to decorate your little friend with.)
• A small amount of stuffing
• Some fabric/all purpose glue
• A darning/yarn needle
• Scissors
• A stitch marker/safety pin to mark start /end of rounds

Pattern:

(I worked the pieces in continuous rounds which are not joined by slip stitches unless written.)

 

Body (make 1):

 

Using 3.5mm hook and blue DK yarn make a magic ring, 5dc into ring (5sts)

Rnd 1: 2dc into each st around (10sts)

Rnd 2: *1dc, 2dc into next st* repeat from * to * around (15sts)

Rnd 3: *2dc, 2dc into next st* repeat from * to * around (20sts)

Rnd 4: *3dc, 2dc into next st* repeat from * to * around (25sts)

Rnd 5-9: 1 dc into each st around (25sts)

Rnd 10: *3dc, dc2tog* repeat from *to * around (20sts)

Rnd 11: *2dc, dc2tog* repeat from *to* around (15sts)

Rnd 12: *1dc, dc2tog* repeat from *to* around (10sts)

Stuff body here!

Rnd 13: dc2tog around (5sts)

Rnd 14-16: 1dc into each st around

Rnd 17: dc2tog twice, Slst into next st (3sts)

Fasten off

 Ears (make 2):

Using 3.5mm hook and blue DK yarn make a magic ring, 5dc into ring (5sts)

Rnd 1: 2dc into each st around (10sts)

Slst into next st

Fasten off


Feet (make 4):

Using 3.5mm hook and blue DK yarn make a magic ring, 5dc into ring (5sts)

Rnd 1: 2dc into each st around (10sts)

Rnd 2: dc2tog around (5sts)

Slst into next st

Fasten off



Seat cover (make 1):

Using 3.25mm needles and red DK yarn

CO 6sts

Stst 12 rows (beginning with a k row)

Cast off

 

Making up:

Start by taking your elephant body piece and sew the small pearl beads either side of the base of the trunk to create the eyes. Then take the ears and sew them slightly wider apart a bit behind the eyes, the pictures can be used a s a guide. Darn in/fasten off any loose ends on the ears or body piece. You can stuff the feet if you wish however I didn't. Sew the feet to the base of the elephant as seen in the diagram (in a kind of square/rectangle placement):

Next take a piece of  the blue DK yarn and tie a knot in the end. fasten it to the back (bum :) of the elephant so only a short length of yarn and the knot stick out to create a little tail (see picture for guidance). Sew the seat cover across the back of the elephant and  finally, attach a small star sequin to each side of the seat cover and one to the elephants forehead using fabric/craft glue to make him look a bit more showbiz! :D

All finished!!!!!!

Recently..........

Hello lovely readers!

I thought I would have a bit of a catch up post as there are quite a few random bits and pieces I wanted to tell you all about :)

Firstly was the bargain of the century I picked up last week.........................

The book only cost me 49p and it had some really amazing patterns in it!

I even found inside a project perfect for using my hello kitty buttons on, some little slipper socks :D

I am going to make the main sock and straps in this colour yarn:

Then for the rim of the sock (done in a crochet edging) I am going to change to white and finally attach my fab buttons. Im soo excited, Im starting them today!

Another thing I did recently was finish this little sushi cutie:

I call her RICE BALL!!! :) I loooovvveee her sooo much xxxx, I wish my real bento could be that cute! :3

If you remember back to my blog tour you will know I gave away some little cookie buttons. The winner, Barbara, said she was going to put them on some dolls for charity. This morning I recieved an email with this picture of the dolls with my buttons :) They are absoloutely fab! and are going to be sent to children in Africa suffering with AIDS.

It is such a great cause and Im sure the kids will be over the moon with the dolls, well done Barbara!

Thats about it for the catch up really, Im off to start on those slippers and eat the cookies I made this morning......

They are toblerone and white chocolate, YUM! :P

My friends birthday present.... watch out it bites!

Hi, Its my friends birthday today but his party is on sunday! He really likes Twilight and anything to do with vampires and I wanted to make him something special....

This is what i came up with! a cute little bat!

He has a cape and everything :0)

And in amongst all these sweets my friends gotta love it right....

Catch up

Bonjour,

I had alot of pictures on my camera and alot of things I wanted to post about, so I thought I would do it all in one big catch up session :)

Starting with the pictures of my rather large (HUGE!) birthday cake........ enjoy!!!


My dad always makes me a birthday cake every year and this was this years, five layers of gorgeous scrumptiousness!!!! (even the lid was cake!: P)

I still haven't finished it!!!! :D

This week I was on work experience at a school, the kids in the class were so lovely (and cute!) that I wanted to make something to give to them on the last day. seen as it was a class of 7 year 2 boys who loved transformers I opted for a robot...


And chocolate..... They loved him and the teacher asked them what he should be called, one said shadow and one said bumble bee. The teacher put it down to me to decide, I couldn't pick one so I combined the both giving him the name Shadow bee !!!!??


They loved him soooo much that they bought me some flowers, I was so surprised when one of the kids burst through the door running towards me with a bunch of flowers, I nearly cried!!! They are soo beautiful but sadly I have to go back to school next week I don't get to go see them again :(



I realllllllyyyyyy want to be able to crochet properly so that I can make amigurumi characters and other crocheted things I keep practising and I think I'm nearly there... Now its just how to hold the yarn and hook properly. here is my latest creation.... I call him Brian! :)

Aww so sweet but he looks cheeky reminds me of the kids...........

And last but not least on our long catch up is...... my new spinning kit! I didn't want to go straight in to spinning the unspun wool that came with it so I thought I would have a go at plying some already spun stuff together, just for practice...

I decided on black and red...

I'm quite pleased with how it came out though it was quite consistent really and for a first attempt I dont think I did bad :) however it was very thick as I spun 2 different types of dk together :/

Ahhh well you cant have everything!
