Last bits of holiday news...

Hi,

I am back from all of my holidays now, so I thought I would bring you my last few bits of news and pictures :)

First up- In the IOW there is a HUGGGGEEEEE Tesco Extra (I mean really huge! It looks like an airport hanger from the outside!). When me and my family were wandering around it I spotted some really cool biscuit spreads down the jam and spreads aisle; Bourbon biscuit, cookie, custard cream and cookies and cream :D I got sooo excited when I saw them- My parents treated me and my brother to the whole set to try (and also a pot of caramel biscuit spread which was on sale in Sainsbury's too :P). I can whole heartedly recommended all of them, they are so delicious (not very healthy though, so be warned if you do buy some- you will eat it all!). Me and my brother have been dipping everything in them :P:

Hehehe, did you spot the little bunny in the middle of all the jars? He is my latest little friend :) He is called Mr bunny and he is a hand needle felted little character made by a lady on the IOW. He was displayed in chocolate apothecary (along with some of his needle felted friends also available for sale). I have decided he is going to come with me lots of places as he can fit in my pocket and is quite an adventurous chap (as long as he gets his regular chocolate boost! :P).

Some other cool things I got in the Isle of Wight were these cool fashion plates- they are actually from the era so they are real fashion relics!!!:

They are so interesting to me- especially after completing costume history this year. They are the kind of things I see on slide shows so to own some is amazing! :) There were a pile in an antiques shop and they were only about £4 each- a really good price. I am going to frame them and hang them in my room to make it even more like a couture house :-)

And I also got these 3 little guys:

To add to my hamster collection! They were also handmade on the IOW (at the Arreton barns craft cabin)

My friend Eleanor recently visited the IOW as part of her holidays and she sent me lots of postcards from all the places she had visited which were lovely to receive and learn what she had been up to in the place I love :)

Hehehe, now I have finished being an Isle of Wight  promoter I will move on!

This is the last thing I have to share with all you lovely people. Not anything about holidays- I promise- because you are all probably sick of my holiday updates by now :oP As most of you will probably already know, my dad teaches maths at a primary school. He tries to make the lessons really fun and engaging and one of his aids is a little monkey toy which when it is tossed to you you answer a question :) Up until now the monkey just had a little badge on the front which said 'I LOVE MATHS' but my dad asked me if I could make him a new little shirt. I was happy to accept this fun challenge (definitely the first time I have made anything for a monkey :P)  and this is what I created for the little dude:

I also gave him a little pencil so he can write down all his clever maths calculations!

I really hope the kids like his t-shirt :-) My dad gave me a big hug- from both him and Nev (the monkeys name)

I better go now as Big brother is on (my guilty pleasure!) and then I have to get to bed ready to start my Wedding Dress sewing course tomorrow! Wooooooooooo! I am soo excited :D I will of course post pictures of my make :)

Keep an eye out as the giveaway I mentioned is coming soon also as I have collected all the bits for it now :)

I hope you are all well, speak to you again soon,

Byeeeee XxXxXxX

P.s. all the new makes I posted a teaser of in my last post are up in my shop now so please do check them out :)

Cupcakes and a chemise :)

Hi,

I hope you all have had a good week :0) I managed to finish my 15th century ladies chemise yesterday so that made me happy, wooo! My pattern is based on THIS pattern, though I changed it up a bit for my final garment. Here it is, in all its historical linen-iness :P :

Here you can see the gussets under the arms and the gores at the bottom:

It was very voluminous, before I gathered it up I felt a bit like I was drowning in all the linen :P

Now onto lots and lots of cupcakes...... where I was drowning in frosting and sprinkles, lol!
As I mentioned on my last post my mum booked for me and her to go on a cupcake and walking tour of London last Saturday. It was absolutely fabulous!!!!!!!! I got so much more cake and macarons than I had expected and in a greater array of flavours than I could have imagined (I thought I would just get a quarter of a vanilla cake at some different places and that still would have been good!).
First we went to Lorraine Pascal's bakery- cupcake bakehouse where I had chose a mini red velvet cake which was yummy. Lorraine has tried to make her icing fluffier by changing the sugar content and it sure was nice and light :)

Then after a macaron or two at Laudree it was onto Sweet couture where I chose this oreo cupcake as my sample- sooo yummy!:

Mm mm. .. It is making me want another one just looking at it :0P

From the Hummingbird bakery we all got a red velvet cupcake, again nice and yummy!

On the tour we also stopped off at a cool Japanese resturant and bakery called Yauatcha where they had a range of over 20 macarons yo choose from. Me and my mum tried some crazy flavours including: apple crumble, banana and cinnamon and apple crumble which were all very tasty. I wasn't keen on the lemon tea one we also tried but 3 out of 4  isn't bad!:

After a couple more stops at fortnum and masons and patisserie Valerie the tour was sadly over :/ but that didn't stop me and my mum, we headed back to Sweet Couture and picked up 4 more cupcakes to take home and try with my dad and brother:

Another oreo (because that was so nice), a chocolate one, a red velvet one from there and the one with the bunny on is gluten free cherry bakewell. I liked them all! Though I probably did eat a bit too much cake that evening as I had about 7 quarters worth :p

In other news I have finished the first half of my dad's Paddington bear biscornu that I am making him for fathers day:

I am pleased so far. I kind of winged the back stitching by looking at the picture on the front of the kit because it was taking forever to keep looking backwards and forwards at the chart.

I'm off to the theatre now to see 1984 with my mum and brother. I have never read the story so am quite excited as I have heard it is very good. Then it is my friends birthday party tonight, yay!

I hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend,

Corsets and chocolate :)

 Hi,

Last Friday I managed to finish my corset!!! I was so happy as I though I would just fall short because I had a lot of hand sewing over the eyelets to do but I managed to really get into the flow of it and got it all done :D Here is my finished corset, the mannequin is not quite the right size so you will have to some imagining to think what it would look like on my actual model who it is made to measure for:

It is fully boned a the front and laces up at the centre back and the straps are off the shoulder.

I am so happy my 17th century corset is done :-) It was a lot of work but I am very proud of it and enjoyed making it. Next is onto the wheel farthingale (period skirt supporter) to go with it!

I am off on my Easter break now though and my Brothers Birthday is coming up really soon. I wanted to make him something for his birthday but something different to the kind of things I normally make. I also wanted it to be really fun so I came up with the idea for a Domo Pinata!:

I made it from a cereal box, 4 toilet roll tubes, some red and white card and painted it all.

I have filled it with lots of tasty sweets:

Hehehe :)
I hope my brother likes it and I hope it holds up to a little bit of whacking before it breaks open :P

In my final bit of news for this post I finished the first of  the different bridal headbands I have begun designing and making recently. I am really pleased with the finished result:

I made the little ribbon roses and I put together the middle piece using the lace applique technique onto a fine net/gauze type material. There are little diamante in the centre of the flowers which sparkle in the light (you can just about see them in the photo :). I thought the peacock feather looked pretty and added a bit of interest. It is quite bohemian and vintage in style. I am still working on the others so it will be interesting to see what style/vibe they give off when they are finished.

I hope you are all very well and that you are having a good week so far :o) I am very excited for tomorrow as my brother is off school so we are going to the local park to play tennis then he is treating me to a Costa Coffee (my favourite!!!) lunch- sandwich, cake and everything! So generous! I treated him to a cadbury's creme egg mcflurry today- very tasty, I do recommend :P

Speak to you all again very soon,

Briliant bargains!

 Helloooo,

I hope you are all having a good week, with college tonight I am going to see the live streaming of the National Theatres War Horse. I have never been to a live streaming but it is meant to be an interesting experience so I am excited  :D

As I mentioned, last week my family were on holiday in the IOW. They were very kind because thy had bought me home quite a few little gifts for me that they had collected from around the island, Including this bag of felt scraps my mum picked up:

I was really impressed because it is a whole bag, stuffed full of really nice, quality, felt and she got the whole thing for £1.50! I think that is such a bargain as nice felt can be really expensive.

As soon as I saw the bag I had an idea of what to do with it. Al the little strips reminded me of paper strips and I thought; what can you do with paper strips?- Quilling of course! So I attempted to try a quilling style look by rolling and sewing the felt in different ways, it was fiddly but fun so I am glad I thought of it! Here is a flower brooch I made yesterday:

I have ideas for tons of little brooches to make, like trees and butterfly's all in my new felt quilling style, I better get started... :P

Another bargain I just had to share with you guys (this time non craft related) is the birthday cake bargains me and a friend from college managed to pick up on our way home in the local mini Waitrose. We got 3 big birthday cakes for less than £3.50!!! Two vanilla and jellybean birthday tray bakes for 99p each and this chocolate hedgehog cake for £1.49. Look!:

Just in case you didn't believe me, here is the sticker :P:

Hahaha, I am taking some home for my family to share with them at the weekend, my friend kept some for her flat and then the rest of the tray bakes we are bringing into college to share today, Mmmmm :)

I am off now as it is almost time for me to head off to college- cake and corsets  are calling me. Hehehe!

See you all soon,

Happy holiday happenings

Hello,

I hope you are all having fun in the summery sun, well, when it is not hidden by the clouds :oP

I am having a great time in the Isle Of Wight (as usual :) and thought I would bring you an update of what I have been up too.

First up- the tale of the giant cucumber! Me and my family went to 'Farmer Jacks' farm shop to get some stuff for tea and in the vegetable baskets we found some HUGE cucumbers so we picked up one (the biggest one :-)

Here it is, it is absolutely massive!!!:

It tasted nice too, the lady in the shop said they aren't usually so big but what with all the sun and then the downpours of rain they had thrived. (the small slice in the picture is a slice from a normal sized cucumber!- not a tiny one or anything)

Hahaha, from giant cucumbers to cool one-man band music machines it is all here in the IOW, yes one man band music machines..... you did not read wrong :P

At Quay Arts- the mini art gallery and shop on the island, there latest exhibit was of this music machine :) Just turn the handle and the wheel rotates and plays a happy little tune on the piano, the drum bangs and the umbrella attached at the
 side spins too!:

Quay Arts is always fun to visit as you never know what will be there but it is always something that makes you smile or makes you think :0)

Here is just a cool picture of the hovercraft coming into the dock/beach that my dad took when we were watching them today:

We did get a lot of sand in our faces though when one of them turned to go on its way and its propellers blew a gust of it straight at us! ahh well it was still fun watching them :)

In the evenings I have been working on this little craft kit my mum got me before we went away- I have sewn the body and arms and ears so far, pictures will of course come when my little bunny is finished ^o^:

And here is a picture of the great bag my dad generously treated me to in a fair-trade shop:

I loved it at first sight-All the little details and pretty colours. It was handmade in India and due to different pieces of scrap fabric being used to make it each one is completely individual. I am saving it to use a little rucksack for when I go to Uni  (:

We are almost at the end of my update now but I have got to mention the Vintage antiques fair we stopped off at this morning. I wasn't sure how much I would find when I walked in but on one table there was a whole stack of old sewing, craft and cross stitch books- all at only £1 each! I looked through all of them and found 6 I really couldn't put down. I can't wait to read all of them cover to cover, I have just got to finish off the two books (about sewing too :) I am reading at the moment first.

Hehehe, sorry, you can all go and give your eyes a rest now, I am done!

See you soon with more updates (if you can all face anymore :P),

A non-chocolatey chocolate challenge!

Hi everyone,

About a week ago me and my family went into London for the day. We picked up lunch in Marks and Spencers where we found some walnut whips which we also got. I hadn't tried them before but they were actually very tasty. They are basically chocolate with a fluffy vanilla/marshmallowy type filling and a little walnut on top. A few days later I made some similar things of my own and they were quite tasty too.

I was talking to my friend Springmusician over at My life, my thoughts, my hobbies and she said she had been meaning to make a knitted version of the tasty treat for her mum. I thought a crafty version of the walnut whip was a super great idea so we decided to turn it into a non-chocolatey chocolate challenge and both create our own different versions and post them on our blogs today!

Here is a picture of the original walnut whip:
Image from: here

mmmm..... I really fancy one now :P

And here is my crocheted/knitted (I used a bit of both) version- my entry for our challenge :D:

It was super fun to create, I can't wait to  see Springmusician's creation

If anyone else would like to join in on our non- chocolately walnut whip chocolate challenge, just for fun, feel free- the more the merrier. Knitted, crocheted, sewn or even paper craft, all are welcome! Just leave a comment below with a link to your post or send a picture to me at iitki@hotmail.co.uk and I will share them on my blog :)

Funny enough I am going on a chocolate tasting tour around London today, hehehe, I wonder if any walnut whips will be included in that :0P

See you all soon,

Bye Bye XXOOXXOO

Yes, I do know it's not Easter... :-P

Helllooo,
I hope everyones week is going OK so far :)

About two weeks ago some friends of my family were meant to be coming round for picnic for the bank holiday and I decided to make some little chick/duck/birdie sweeties holders as little presents (based on the chick Easter egg holder my mum got me as a gift at Easter :) I was pleased with how the pattern worked out as I thought they came out pretty sweet. Sadly though one of the family friends was ill so couldn't make it. In the end we rescheduled and so they came round the Sunday just gone. I put the little chicks away safely until the came and used them as little place settings:

I think they looked quite nice on the plates and they were well received :-)

Without thinking though the day before they came I made some chocolate crispy nests to go with the cakes my dad made for dessert, when I thought afterwards I had to laugh though... chicks.... crispy nests, hahaha, I thought people would think I was confused thinking Easter was coming up! :P

(They may have made me look a bit crazy but they did come out pretty tasty! :0)

We all had a really good day in the end, all my dads food was delicious as usual, mmm... I'm getting hungry just thinking about it, we finished off the last of the leftover cake today!

See you all super soon,

Bye xxxx

It's my Brothers birthday! (+Happy easter)

Hey guys,

It is my brothers birthday on the 1st of April (tomorrow!) but as we came on holiday to the isle of wight on Friday my brother got his special cake early! here it is:

It is a domo in the centre of the universe cake! :P

Hehhe it is very yummy and we still have lots left to enjoy so that is good!

My brothers birthday may end up being a bit Domo themed though (but that can't be a bad thing! :0) as for a gift I made him this domo case to fit his new kindle fire HD he got for his birthday (again early because we were going away). I hopes he likes it, it was fun to make though trying to get a good fit was difficult- secretly running into my brothers room and putting it on his kindle to check :P

AND HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE! I hope you are all having a fantastic day, enjoying lots of chocolate eggs :P

Here as promised I bring you a picture of the secret Easter prize I made for the giveaway:

It is an easter egg pin cushion- I gave a try some of the embroidery stitches on my sewing machine to try and make it super cute =:o3

I have had a great easter :) Today we went to some little towns to do a bit of shopping and then in the evening my dad did an easter egg hunt for me and my brother so that was super fun! Look at all the yummy stuff I found:

Hehehe, I can't wait to eat it all :P My mum bought me the little knitted chick in the middle. I saw it in this craft shop when we were out and thought it was cute so she generously got me one (:<>)
I'm going to call him Darren (Because he looks like a Darren to me:P)

I'm off to bed now, ready for all the fun of my brothers birthday tomorrow. I think we are going mini golf and pizza express, yum!

See you all soon,

Last holiday update!

Hello everyone,

This is my last holiday update as tommorrow I am coming back home. I had a really good last day today though as the sun has been shining and me and my family went back to the Chocolate Apothecary (a reaalllyyy nice cafe). I had half a cookie, half a brownie (I shared with my dad as they are to good to try and choose one of them :P) and some appletizer :0) Mmmmmmmmmm! Also this evening when we went to the pier my brother won a cute donut plush on the grabber/claw machine and gave it to me (we have been trying for the whole week to win something and finally on our last day we did!)

Yesterday we had a 'chipnic' ( a chip picnic :) on the beach, hehehe :0) my dad made up the idea. we packed some rolls and sauce and then went and bought some IOW potato chips from the local chip shop and sat on the beach and ate our chip butties :P I had a few chips left at the end so I fed them to the seagulls, they went crazy for them!!!

On Wednesday we went for a meal at pizza express with some of the gift vouchers my nan gave us, that was really nice I had doughballs, some margherita pizza and then a big toffee glory ice cream :P It was very tasty :)

Tuesday was a shopping day really, my mum took me back to the vintage clothes shop as I really enjoyed looking round it the first time. She helped me look through all the rails for something my size and I tried on some different dresses, they were all so pretty and in the end my mum treated me to my two favourites and a cardigan for me to wear to my upcoming 18th birthday celebrations!(Pictures coming when I get home I am just still struggling to upload them)

This week I managed to finish the teddy bear cross stitch kit I started a while ago and the mini butterfly one my mum bought me last week. And I started another dress for my Monster high doll out of some pretty Chinese style fabric I bought in the IOW this time last year! I also came up with another tutorial to share with all of you which I shall be posting up over the next week or so :D

I hope you all had a lovely week,

See you all very tommorrow to announce the winner of the 2nd blogiversary giveaway, If you haven't entered yet don't miss out! Good luck to everyone :0)

Butterflies, fish, monkeys (and more shopping!)

Hola,

I had a bit of a temporary trouble with the internet, thats why I didn't check back sooner :0) I hope you all had a lovely weekend!

On Thursday me and my family went to butterfly and fountain world. It was my choice, even though I have a mild fear of butterflies and moths, because I wanted to see the koi carp in the japanese garden there. (I took pictures but am having trouble uploading :/ so will have to wait till I get back)

On Friday it was shopping day :P Hehehe, there were some lovely masquerade style masks in one shop and my mum said I could choose one as a treat :D I chose a glittery light  purple one with pearl style string beads dangling from it :-)

On Saturday my aunty came over on the hover ferry to spend the day with us and we went to the owl and monkey haven. All the monkeys we soooo sweet one called 'fudge' kept us all very amused he just kept picking grass and eating it, lol! He acted more like a cow! :P

Today we had lunch at Chocolate Island, I had a piece of chocolatey caramel shortcake :0) It was deeellicious (I would send you all a piece if I could :). Then we did some strolling and a bit of shopping I got a couple more masks, a pretty purple cat one and a blue harelquin one in one shop. Then in another my dad treated me to a little recycled paper flower brooch. In a fossil shop I found a bookmark with the heiroglyphic alphabet on it, it was super cool and when I took it to the counter to pay for it the shop owner (Jurassic Jim, lol :P) gave me a mini egyptian quiz, for the prize of a scarab beetle bead. I got the question wrong- it was why do the egyptians like scarab beetles so much; because they thought a giant one rolled up the sun into the sky each morning (scarab beetles are kind of like dung beetles). Jurassic Jim gave me the prize anyway though, lol he was very nice :0D

Tommorrow we are off to mini golf and then me and my brother are cooking for my parents again. I will try to remember to take pictures before eating it all this time though :P I might also manage to finish the mini teddy bear on the beach cross stitch kit I started a while ago and have been working on recently :)

See you all soon,

Cooking and crafting

Hi friends,

Since I got home I had really been craving those 'Maxibon Cookie' ice creams, I had a check in my local supermarkets but none of them sold them :/ But then I thought what do I normally do when I can't find what I would like? I try to make it :0) So that is what I did, me and my brother bought some cookies, ice cream and chocolate and attempted to re-create the deliciousness! We had to work really fast as you could feel the ice cream melting. They weren't very neat but they were tasty :P:

Another thing that was very tasty was the chocolate bunny me and my dad made together today!:

I bought my dad the mould and chocolate as a birthday gift as he really likes cooking and today we gave it a go, it was very fun. The chocolate came out very thick as I bought my dad a 1kg bar of Cadbury's and we ended up using it all :-P We didn't eat it all this evening though, promise!

In amongst all the chocolate and ice cream eating/making I have been doing some crafting though, Here is the little sign I made as a present for my mum and dad:

It is made out of scrabble tiles and I made up the little rhyme myself :o) A while ago my mum gave me a bag of scrabble tiles that she found in my brothers games cupboard, I kept thinking what to do with them and finally came up with the sign idea, my parents really liked so I was happy. I might try making a little door plaque for myself out of some of the remaining tiles.

I'm off to bed now as I am quite tired after spending the afternoon chocolate making :P Also I have got to get up my energy too as tomorrow me and my brother are making another batch of the cookie ice creams for when my nan and grandad come round in the afternoon!

See you all soon,

Holiday update

Hi guys,

I hope all of you are well! I found a place where there is Internet in the hotel so I thought I would do a quick post about my holiday so far :)

It is a pretty slow pace of life here in Malta so me and my family have just been having lazy and relaxing days really which is good as it means I have had lots of crafting time!

I got round to making some of these knitted chocolate bar brooches I had the idea for a while ago, I made some in milk and dark (I am having trouble with uploading pictures at the moment so I will post some up another time :o) I also made some hoods for my Blythes, a tiger one and a hamster one, and I stitched a mini creepy style prom dress for my Monster High doll.

There is a pool in the hotel though so I think I will come back fitter than when I left as I have been going swimming twice most days! hehehe :P The fruit here is also nice, especially the peaches, they ripen better than at home because of the heat.

There aren't many shops really, only mini supermarkets but one of them does sell some packet drinks mixes (kind of like kool aid) so I think I will be buying some of them to try some more yarn dying as I really enjoyed it when I dyed my own yarn before but they don't really sell the drink mixes in the UK.

I'm off for a swim in the pool now, then I might go buy those drink mixes, lol :P

See you all again soon

Bye XxXx

Father's Day! :D

Hi guys,

I hope you have all had a super fab day! I am happy to say my dad liked all of his gifts including his custard cream keyring :0)

He also liked these cupcakes me and my brother made him:

Hehehe, it took about 3 hours to bake the different cakes and make the different icings as I am not a seasoned baking pro but they did taste nice (even if I do say so myself :P). The ones on the left are Victoria sponge ones with raspberry jam centres, the ones in the centre are chocolate, obviously, hehe :-) And then the ones on the end are Yorkie and Malteser ones. I think all in all today my dad has had 6! So he definitely must like them :0)

My nan also liked her bag when I gave it to her yesterday when we all went dog racing for the evening (the dogs are well looked after and enjoy running and everything :), here is it finished:

and here is it wrapped :):

Soon I have a swap make to show you when my partner recieves thier parcel :-) I can't wait for my parcel to arrive too I haven't done a swap in agggesss!

See you all soon,

Bye XXX

P.s If you haven't already entered the Giveaway! don't forget too! Entries are open until the 22nd of June :)
