Briliant bargains!

 Helloooo,

I hope you are all having a good week, with college tonight I am going to see the live streaming of the National Theatres War Horse. I have never been to a live streaming but it is meant to be an interesting experience so I am excited  :D

As I mentioned, last week my family were on holiday in the IOW. They were very kind because thy had bought me home quite a few little gifts for me that they had collected from around the island, Including this bag of felt scraps my mum picked up:

I was really impressed because it is a whole bag, stuffed full of really nice, quality, felt and she got the whole thing for £1.50! I think that is such a bargain as nice felt can be really expensive.

As soon as I saw the bag I had an idea of what to do with it. Al the little strips reminded me of paper strips and I thought; what can you do with paper strips?- Quilling of course! So I attempted to try a quilling style look by rolling and sewing the felt in different ways, it was fiddly but fun so I am glad I thought of it! Here is a flower brooch I made yesterday:

I have ideas for tons of little brooches to make, like trees and butterfly's all in my new felt quilling style, I better get started... :P

Another bargain I just had to share with you guys (this time non craft related) is the birthday cake bargains me and a friend from college managed to pick up on our way home in the local mini Waitrose. We got 3 big birthday cakes for less than £3.50!!! Two vanilla and jellybean birthday tray bakes for 99p each and this chocolate hedgehog cake for £1.49. Look!:

Just in case you didn't believe me, here is the sticker :P:

Hahaha, I am taking some home for my family to share with them at the weekend, my friend kept some for her flat and then the rest of the tray bakes we are bringing into college to share today, Mmmmm :)

I am off now as it is almost time for me to head off to college- cake and corsets  are calling me. Hehehe!

See you all soon,

Hat happiness :)

Hi,

As I mentioned from Monday till today I was on a millinery course. It was millinery for beginners and we learnt all the steps of how to make a simple straw and felt hat.

It was really cool because we all got to choose the shape of our hat crowns and brims from a whole range of blocks (what you shape the hat on) in a big cupboard so we could do our own design rather than just a standard hat.

Making the hats involved a lot of hand sewing as all of the sewing of both the hats was done by hand and the thicker materials (rather than just fabric) meant I kept prodding myself, but ahh well I'm sure my hands will toughen up If I keep making more hats :P Quite a lot of effort was also involved in stretching the fabric so making hats literally involves blood, sweat and tears! But it is still super fun though!

Here are some shots of my work in progress:

And here are my finished hats! :D:

I played around with tons of different trimmings on each but in the end I liked the more simple look for each- sometimes simple is best :) I will be wearing the orange straw sun hat on holiday and I will probably wear the felt hat when I get the right occasion- it reminds me of a bugsy Malone/old fashioned gangster style, Hehehe I think it looks quite cool on me if I may say so myself :P

As a thank you to the course teacher- as she was so lovely and really great at explaining everything and helping people I made this little hat brooch for her using a little straw hat and some ribbons/decorations I had:

She liked it so I was pleased :-)

This is her website where she sells her hat and she also does one on one teaching in case anyone is interested: http://chloescrivener.co.uk/

I hope you all have a lovely weekend :) See you soon,

It's a felt feast!

Hiii,

I have now finished all of the felt cakes/desserts from the kits my dad bought me a couple of weeks ago :) I worked on them over a few evenings (whilst watching Big Brother- my guilty pleasure :-P)

I love all the little bits and bobs they gave you to finish of the treats with like the cake box and the doily. I like the designs too, they are different to many of the felt cake kits I have seen/made before.

Here is my finished felt feast!:

I added some little beads as the seeds for the strawberry to add to the jazziness even more!

To me these cupcakes are more like fancy petit fours, I would say the first one is strawberry flavour, then the middle one is marshmallow flavour and the last one is a fancy chocolate brownie square.... mmmmmm..... I'm getting hungry now :P

I am tempted to rummage through my 'handmade stuff' box to find all the other felt cakes I have ever made and display them like a huge felt cream tea, hehehe :0)

In other news the chocolate walk I mentioned I was going on last time I posted was really good- we got lots of samples from places like; Hotel Chocolat, Fortnum and Mason's, Charbonel and Walker and Paul A Young. My favourite sample was the milk chocolate passion fruit truffle we got from Fortnum and Mason's. In Hotel Chocolat we got some chocolate pasta which will be interesting to try! I will let you know what I think when I try it :)

See you all soon,

Bye XOXOXO

A fun day with dad

Hello,

Today was my first Monday off since finishing my exams and seen as my dad didn't have to work we got to spend some time together which was nice. We went to the shops and had a good look round for all the good bargains :P We also went to try and get some fabric to turn into curtains for the dining room- but the shop was closed, luckily I found some nice fabric online though :)

I did manage to find some good  stuff on our shopping trip and kindly my dad treated me to them. I found these two cute felt craft kits which I can't wait to get started on:

You even get the box for the cupcakes and the doily for the cake included :P They were only £1 each!

Also Recently I have started using incense- I find it very relaxing and in the same shop, again for only £1 I found this box of 6 packs of fruit scented incense, you get; apple, grape, melon, tutti fruity, apricot and strawberry. They all smell nice so I am excited about using them :-)

I hope you all had a lovely day too :3

See you soon,

Bye xoxo

Little bits and bobs :)

Hello everyone,

Today I just had a couple of little mini projects to show you. First is this little felt pasty:

I made it for my mum as she had to go to the hospital (nothing serious) and I wanted to make her a little mascot to let her know I was thinking of here. She really liked it and my dad thought she should be called Patsy pasty so that is her name now! :)

My other little project has been these little crochet keys:

I haven't quite perfected the pattern yet but when I do I may put it up. I think I might make a few and turn them into some crochet jewellery which will hopefully look cool!

I'm off now to finish of another of my projects which I have been working on which I will be making into a tutorial soon....

... I will leave you on that cliffhanger :P hehehe!

See you all soon,

Bye XxXxXxXx

More felt finishes :)

Hello!

Firstly, sorry for not replying to the lovely comments that have been made on the last few posts, blogger has been playing up! I do always read all comments and try to reply to each one too so please keep making them! :0D

Last post I put up pictures of the stuff I had been making from my craft kits :) I have carried on working away and have managed to finish the her and string kit, so just the fox left now:

I really like the hedgehog, it came out so sweet, there are such good designs in the kit!

Whilst rummaging around in my room I came across the teatime cake pincushion (crafty nana) kit my nan gave me for Christmas last year and as I am currently in such a felt-kit crafty mood I couldn't resist whipping up a couple of the treats, here is my strawberry-pastry-shortcake-stack thing and berry tart:

Hehehe, when I look at them I feel peckish! :P I still have the piece of Victoria sponge left, I will probably finish that off tonight......

......Are felt craft kit obsessions possible... lol! :P

I hope you are all well and have lots of fun and exciting things coming up,

see you all soon,

Bye xxxx

Crafty kit makes :)

Hola my lovely friends!

Last post I mentioned the purse I made from the Crafty nana kit I got from my aunt. It was easy to make and I managed to finish it all in one day, christmas day, using my sewing machine, ready to use in the January sales to hold all my bargain hunting money, lol :P

Here it is, the bow wasn't part of the kit, I just added it for fun and to glam it up a bit:

And last post I mentioned the Paper and string kit I bought in John Lewis, in the sales, quite a bargain I would say at £7.50 as I have been having alot of fun with it. Here are my two woodland friends I have finished so far:

An acorn and a mushroom..... any good name ideas anyone? lol :0D I tried out googly eyes for the mushroom (not part of the kit, again just for fun :P) and I think it made it look cute. I still have a fox and a hedgehog to make too, I can't wait to have the whole crew finished, I will probably cut out the felt using the patterns for them later!

I will probably experiment with some different felt characters of my own designs when I have finished, I have had a few ideas whilst I have been stitching these little guys up.

I hope you all had a lovely Monday,

see you all soon

March Swaps

Hola!

The other day the ATC's I made for Laura as part of the March ATC swap we decided to do arrived do now I can show you them :):

The 'Meer-Bunny!' cross stitch design was from a kit I bought in Hobbycraft. The cross stitch designs on the Food ATC are my own and I called that ATC 'American diner' :-) Laura liked them so 'Yay!'

I really enjoyed making the ATC's and will definitely be making more in the very near future!

Thank you for swapping with me Laura , and sharing your ATC know-how :)

Another swap I signed up for in March was the Cute and Quirky swap, this months theme was 'Super Safari' and yesterday my parcel arrived from Oddsocks, look at all the super cool stuff I got :D:

I can't wait to make the cross stitch kit and I really love, love, love the little crochet elephant she made :) The eyes are even handmade! They are so effective, I must try making some eyes soon (I think they are made from fimo type stuff)

Thank you Oddsocks!!!

Here is the little lady in a leopard costume I designed and stitched to put in the parcel I sent :P:

Hehehe, pretty random I know but it was just and idea that popped into my head when I looked at the leopard print felt I had and thought it would be fun to make and the swap is for quirky stuff :D She was liked, so once again 'Yay!' :0) You can see the rest of what I sent on Oddsocks blog: here!

I'm off now to keep working on the mini ami astronaut I am making for my brother for his birthday which is coming up this Sunday,

See you all soon,

Bye xxx

Mothers day and a marshmallow! :3

Hola!

My mum liked her bracelet! Yay! :D I was sooo happy :-)

here is a picture of the card I made my mum too, I couldn't post a picture the other day as I hadn't finished it yet:

My Mum likes squirrels :P the design was from a Mouseloft kit I got for my birthday and I added 'nuts please!' because I thought he looked a bit cheeky like he was asking for some food! It is a fridge magnet :)

And today when I was watching a murder mystery with my mum I stitched this little marshmallow:

She is called Marsha Mellow (as named by my Dad, hehehe :-) I will soon be making her a chocolate topping too because my favourite sandwich ever since my brother got me vegetarian marshmallows is toasted marshmallow and chocolate spread :P mmmm yum yum! I reccommend whipping one up and trying it :)

Happy Mothers Day Mum!

Hehehe, See you all soon,

Bye <3

I'm not obsessed with Domo... well maybe just a little bit...

Hello everybody (and a big warm welcome to my brand new followers!!! :)

I loved the Domo my brother got me when I got my tooth taken out soo much that I have been desperate to expand my collection. I went on eBay and saw a pink Domo, which I couldn't resist and yesterday she arrived :D

Domo is very happy to have a companion :)

And 'who is that in the middle?' I hear you ask. It is tiny domo, a brooch I made because Domo and pink Domo are a bit too big to carry round with me but tiny Domo can easily cling to my jumper!

Hehehhehe, and because I have Domo on the brain I thought 'now I need a domo hat!' (to go with the Domo bag I also recently bought :-)... so I got out my crochet hook and got to work, I am really happy with how it turned out, I really want to wear it even though it now getting sunny!:

Luckily I had just the right colour and texture yarn, and I also have it in pink so I can make myself a pink one too!

Hehehe :) Now, In other non- Domo related news my cute and quirky swap parcel arrived :oD This months theme was Valentines. Look at all of the amazing things I got from my very generous swap partner Holly:

I especially love the handmade hearts and cute mini calculator! <3
Thank you Holly!!!

I'm off to to bed now, to snuggle down with my Domo friends of course :)

See you all soon,

I hope you are all having a nice week :-)

Bye xXxXx

Stitching and sewing :)

Hi!

Yesterday me and my family went up to London  and took a walk around Greenwich market. I found a stall which sold some cool crochet accessories and I picked up these to add to my brooch collection :D

When I saw them I knew I had to have them (ALL! ahhaha ). They are soo cool! The lady who makes them has an online shop which sells some of the stuff she has on her stall: http://www.tipawan.co.uk/

I love handmade stuff!!!! xxx  >o<

Whilst there we also saw another stall which sold loads of different sock monsters/monkeys. My dad thought they were really cool, so.... today I tried out some of my sewing skills (which I don't use very often but hope to more :0) to make him my version of what we saw:

I was quite proud of my creation and my dad loved it! <3 He put it on his special shelf :)

In other news i'm  very close to finishing my mums kindle cozy :) It will definitely be ready for her birthday next Sunday :D ( I'll  post pictures then)

Something else that happened the other day was I got a certificate through the post for being part of the charity chick knit. I was soo excited  because I've never had a certificate for something craft or charity related before!

Well that's pretty much it for this post :)
talk to you all again soon,

BYE!
