Christmas stars!

Hi everyone,

On Saturday my family and over some food friends for a dinner party :) Each time they come over- especially at Christmas I like to make some little table favours :)

This year I decided to implement some of my new found knowledge from the different skill weeks at college- I used printing!

I cut out my own little design of a star stencil and then printed 8 of them onto calico using some gold Dylan fabric paint though the stencil with a brush- a different method to college as I didn't quite have all the proper equipment :p

I then ironed them once dry to affix the paint fully, before backing with Christmassy fabric, placing ribbon between the two layers then sewing around.
Lastly I pinking sheared around them to stop fraying and give a simple decorative looking edge. And voila,  my little decorations were then complete;

I think they looked nice on the table and they got some compliments so I was very happy :) they were also fairly quick to make due to some simple stencil printing being there main feature. I will definitely be experimenting further with this technique :-)

The Christmassy crafting really got me into the festive spirit too! It is soo close to Christmas now- I can't wait!  I hope you are all doing well and are happy,

see you soon,

Bye xoxoxo

Christmas crafting

Hi guys,

Thank you for all the good wishes for my interviews :0)

The other day one of the people who work with my mum gave her a cool costume calendar to give to me as a present. It was so cool and had some beautiful pictures of period costumes in it, I can't wait to start using it in January :) As a thank you I made her two of my Christmas tree decorations (pattern can be found on the free pattern page at the top of the blog! :-):

My mum said she really liked them and left them on her desk all day and kept telling people I had made them! Hehehe, that made me smile :)

Another gift I made was this pincushion for my sewing teacher as it was the last class last Wednesday (sorry for the picture I took it just before I went to the evening class so it was a bit dark in my room):

I was pleased with how it came out, I went for a super-christmassy theme! My teacher thought it was sweet so I was very happy as I was a bit unsure about giving her a pincushion as I thought she might have hundreds of them already :P

I'm almost done for my preparations for Christmas and tomorrow I break up for the holidays so I should then have time to finish off the last little bits.

I hope you are having a lovely week and are looking forward to Christmas as much as I am lol! :D

See you all soon,

Chocolate Easter egg making!

Hi!,

Today was the day I got to go Chocolate Easter egg making :D I had been excited about this for  agggeeesss so was very pleased the time had finally come! I Came up  with my design last night (it was inspired by the sea and jewellery :) in the centre I wanted to put a chocolate star and two chocolate sea horses facing each other and then different sweets surrounding the centre and finally some piped white chocolate decoration, I was not sure how much of my idea I would be able to create in real life but our expert chocolate making teacher was really nice and in the end I managed to create my design exactly :-) Here is my chocolaty creation:

It really was soo fun! They had mini vats of chocolate which we had to fill our molds with and then huge bags of sweets to decorate our chocolate with.

Hehehe, I signed the back in white chocolate too :P

It was very funny when we were in the chocolate making room as there are glass windows you can look through to see the people making the chocolate and there were lots of people looking at me and my family, hehehe!

Here are my mum, dad and brothers creations too:

Egg on the left is my Dads (mine is in the middle :P) my mums is on the right and then the big bar in the front is what my brother made he decorated a quarter for each of us with our fave sweets on so I promised I would share my egg with him too! :0)

I'm off to eat a little bit more now, it is extremely delicious! I would share it with you all if I could :)

I hope everyone is having a nice week,

see you all soon,

Bye! xxxx

P.S. A big huge massive thank you to Tricia who awarded me the Liebster blog award the other day!!! :D You should definately go vist her blog: here! she has got some lovely makes on there! :)

Blythe sock hat - tutorial

Hello everyone :)

The other day I was sitting doing some work when I looked over at my girls Candy, Catherine and Etty.M and a pair of socks I got for Christmas sitting on my dresser and had an idea.... Blythe sock hats!

And here they are, I made them all one:

I thought it was really cool how different socks gave such different effects
:-)

They are very simple and fun to make so I thought I would post up a tutorial so any little Blythe out there who wants one can have one too!

Blythe sock hat tutorial:

You will need:
  • A needle
  • Some thread
  • A pen
  • A sewing pin
  • A sock, of course :)
  • And any decorations you want to add

How to:

First step, choose your sock!

Then turn it inside out and pop it onto your Blythe (or other dolls) head. Once you have got it on properly place a pin through both sides of the sock at the very top, where the hat should end:

Once you have done this carefully remove the sock, making sure not to displace the pin and pick up your pen! Onto the hat draw an outline of where you will be stitching, draw an outline similar to the red dotted line in the picture for a bunny style sock hat or the blue dotted line for a beanie hat (or you can experiment and come up with your own hat style):

Don't cut anything yet as if you cut before sewing the sock material will roll at the edges making stitching difficult. Stitch all the way around your outline:

Then carefully cut out you hat shape, leaving about 1/2 to 1 cm gap of sock around all the stitching. (If making a bunny hat make several small cuts at the bottom between the ears to prevent gathering up in  this area when turned right-side out):

Then turn you hat right side out...

... decorate, however you wish, and with whatever you wish....

... All finished!!!

I hope you like the tutorial :) <3

See you all soon,

More Christmas finishes

Hola!

The other evening I had some spare time so I decided to sit and make up the little Christmas cross stitch decorations I have been making, I am pleased with how they turned out :):

They are quite 'rustic' though, heehehe!

I'm not sure If I will manage to finish both of the others but I am pleased I managed to finish these three, they make a good group! I am trying to make a special Alan Dart Christmas mouse for my nan and grandad as a gift to take round to them on Christmas eve which will probably take up quite a lot of my crafting time between now and Christmas :)

See you all again very soon!
