An interesting find...

Hello,

First up Happy (belated) Easter to everyone! I hope you had a fabulous time :)

I am currently in the Isle of Wight for my Easter holidays and am having a good time

Yesterday me and my family went into ryde and had a walk down the high street. There is a shop there my family always go in called the 'Fantastic Store' it is basically a comic book and action figure store which covers both retro and new items. I am not to into that kind of stuff if I'm honest but I usually have a look around whilst I'm waiting for my parents to finish as on the odd occasion I do find something cool :p yesterday happened to be one of those days!

I was looking at the piles of magazines on the floor and came across a stack of old (about 1980s) 'military modelling' magazines, I don't really know why but I thought ill flick through one of those- just to see what it's like I suppose and then I saw that in each is sure was articles on, and sketches of, some military uniforrms! Talked about in really good detail (to help the diehard modellers I suppose)- so absoloutely fascinating for me from a costume perspective.  There was even the odd scaled down historical jacket pattern.

Look:

At only £1 each I picked up three of them :p hehe I never know what show ill be making for next but if it is set in world war 2 and there are some paratroopers taht need costuming I will know where to turn to start my research! ;p

If you can get your hands on any copies the costume bit is well worth a read if you are interested in such things as I am :)

See you all soon,

Bye!  Xxx

Happy holiday

Hello,

I hope you are all having a lovely week! I am in the IOW with my family, it is nice to get to spend some extended time with them rather than just the weekend :)

As usual in the IOW I have found some very cool stuff- I got a personalised rice keyring!!!!! In Arreton Barns (this little craft village and farm shop) there was a artist there who wrote whatever words you wanted on a grain of rice and then you could choose any pretty keyring or necklace to have it preserved in, I was like 'WOW, I have got to get one of those!' :P He was very nice, he usually makes these pretty clay angel statues and had just started rice writing. I got 'Jordan' written on one side and 'Costumier' written on the other as that is the career I am training for and what I love. Heheh it was quite difficult to try and get a good picture of due to it's tininess but I did try:

he guy told me which type of pen you needed to write small enough so I may try and get one so I can write little messages on rice- it feels so fun and special :)

In the time I am not munching on yummy flapjack in the Chocolate Apothecary (a lovely café) or looking around the little shops I have been working on outfits for my lalaloopsy doll, here is my first finished article:

I added lots of trim, a big ribbon and some lace applique to make it super pretty and cute! I also went with black and white as my theme to give a more gothic cut style ready for Halloween.

My next outfit I have started is a sleeveless jumpsuit in green donut fabric- my pattern drafting skills must be getting better as I managed to draft some tapered trousers for the bottom part of the jumpsuit from lalaloopsy's measurements that actually fit right first time! Hahaha- that is a first :P here is a work in progress picture of them- they still need hemming and some serious pressing and of course the addition of the sleeveless top half:

I am of now to do some more work on it an maybe even get it finished!

See you all soon,

Bye XXX

Back in the Isle of Wight

Hi guys :)

I am once again speaking to you from the (...currently not so...) sunny IOW!

We got here on Sunday and the place we are staying this time has a hot tub on the balcony so it has been fun using that, I hadn't really ever been in one before but they are very warm and bubbly and nice :-)

In between going out I have been working really hard on getting some of the finishing touches on my portfolio as I have now sent off my uni application (YAY!!!! :D) so the interviews are coming soon! I am sooo super excited!

I have also been knitting my own 'perfect boyfriend' lol! from a kit my great aunt gave me for christmas. Pictures coming soo when I make it a bit further I have only done one front so far so he doesn't resemble Mr handsome yet! :op

When out shopping Iv'e been picking up bits for the return of the crafty advent calendar giveaway coming soon in November. It has been really fun looking for the 24 different little gifts for each day for the prize, I have to find 6 more and then wrap them all :0)

Also as part of my work towards uni my dad has been helping teach me the basics of life drawing (proportions etc...) so that has been really interesting. I have mainly drawn faces so far, I think I am making progress :) Next I am going on to drawing bodies so that will be fun to learn.

Today we went out to the Chocolate Island Cafe for lunch and i had a slab of Millionaires shortbread, it was verrryyy tasty :P Tommorrow I think we are going to the Garlic Farm cafe so I think tommorrow will be their special garlic bread for lunch!

I hope you are all having a lovely week,

Speak to you all again soon,

Byeeeee XxXxXx

Im back! (+ valentines day update)

Hola,

I am back from holiday now, I would have kept you all updated but there was no internet where I was so I have had to save my pictures till now :) Hehehehe, I will try not to bore you all :0)

First up HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!! I was a bit sad I couldn't wish you all a happy, lovey, dovey day on the 14th so I had to do it now! My family loved their bookmarks so I was very happy :) I was also super happy because my dad gave me this lovely chocolate lolly from 'Chocolate island' (one of my fave shops on the IOW) as a valentines gift...

It was sooo delicious, I had to wrestle it off Domo, Etty M and Candy first though! Hehehe :oP

For dinner my dad also made heart shaped pizzas and garlic breads for dinner too, here are the garlic breads but the pizzas got eaten before I could take a picture:

They were super yummy too!

I really hope everyone had a lovely day :-)

In other news, I now bring you a picture of the infamous choc dipped Ice cream, I think I wrote about these in my last IOW holiday post but didn't remember to take a picture, but this time I did and this time I had a super duper double one.... mmmmm....

It was very big, but not quite as big as the one outside the ice cream shop.....

hahaha :D

I will leave you all with the picture I took of view of the sea I saw as I strolled along eating my ice cream :)

Keep an eye out tomorrow as I will be opening my special giveaway of the little parcel goodies I picked up whilst on holiday :D

See you all soon,

Bye! xxxxx

Families Valentines gifts- all finished!

Hello all my lovely readers! :)

Last week I finished my mums valentines book mark gift, meaning all my valentines gifts for my family are complete :D I have really enjoyed making them all, I hope my family like them :0)

Last night I wrapped them all up and added 'Handmade with love labels' here they are- all ready for the 14th of Feb!

For my mum I decided to do little birds in the end. The pattern is a modified version of a little bird motif from an old cross stitch magazine my nan gave me a while ago :-)

I am sooo excited about giving them to my mum, dad and brother, so far I have managed to keep everything a tip top secret....... Now all I have to do is get them to the Isle of Wight, where we are going on holiday to tomorrow!!!!! :D

Wooooo, I am excited about that too :P As many of you will know I visit there regularly and really love it <3

Whilst there I am going to look for some bits for a special giveaway when I get back

Hehehehe, see you all soon,

Off to the Isle Of Wight :)

Hey,

I am off to the Isle Of Wight tommorrow, I am very excited :D There are lots of things I want to buy in the shops there (Including some stuff to complete a very very special giveaway I will be announcing on the 1st of November!!!) and lots of things I want to do, again! :P Catherine is of course coming along, I will be showing her all my favourites places; the chocolate shop and craft shops :0)

Ill be sure to keep you all updated with whats going on!

In other news, yesterday I started Catherine's Halloween costume ready for the dress up Halloween party at my friends when I get back, I manged to finish her crochet pumpkin hat :) I made the pattern myself:

I'm glad she likes it, only problem is no she won't take it off! Only her dress left now, I have an idea of what I want it to look like but I'll probably see as I go along :0)

Anyway, I've got to go pack my bag now :) I have to get all my craft stuff together so I can finish some projects while I'm away!

For my lunch tommorrow I picked up some vegetarian sushi in Sainsbury's. I've never eaten sushi before so I am very excited to try it, hehehe :P

See you all soon,

Bye!!!!! XXXX

Ice cream, sea, sand and shopping!

Hi everyone :)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

I'm in the Isle Of Wight on my holidays now! :)

I'm having lots of fun. We only came on Sunday and I've eaten 2 ice creams already, a bannoffe one and a hot choc dip, speciality of the Sandown! (a flake 99 dipped in melted chocolate :P). I've also been down to the beach and in the sea, which was FREEEEZING!!! *o* but I had a full body wetsuit on so I could just about cope :0)

Our apartment is quite nice and we have a little balcony which overlooks the beach, here is the lovely view:

The other good thing about our apartment is that it is only a short walk (although uphill!) away from two brilliant crafty shops, a cute haberdashery shop called Rainbows and a bead shop called Purple Moon Beads. I have been visiting them most mornings and picking up some different bits and pieces.

I managed to get some really good bargains such as this piece of beautiful oriental style material for only 75p!

...... Which will go perfectly with the Oriental Lady cross stitch kit I bought as well :)

(I had to get the bat kit too as it was just too cute to resist :3)

It's been nice having time to relax as it has meant I can catch up and do some more on my many knitting projects. Over the last few evenings I have been making more innocent hats:

I'll probably carry on with my DAL project tonight and maybe make one more hat as well,

I hope everyone is having a great holiday, wherever you are! :)

Speak to you all again soon!

Bye bye xxx

Dad's Birthday!!!

Hi,

Today is my dad's birthday!!!!! WOOOOOO!!!!! Happy birthday dad!!!!!!!!!!

My dad likes to bake (as many of you will know from seeing the pictures of the amazing cakes he bakes for me and my brothers birthdays!) and one of my favourite things he makes are these delicious brownies........ mmm:P:

They really are good so I designed and knitted up the MEGA BROWNIE for him as a gift :0)

I did a slighlty lighter shade on top (like where the brownies get cooked and lighten) and sewed on the nuts to make it look as realistic as possible. The reason I called it a MEGA BROWNIE is because it's quite substantially bigger than the real thing!

I also got him some other gifts and as an extra surprise me and my brother made my dad a very special cake. My dad's favorite place is the Isle of Wight so I came up with the idea of making him an IOW cake.

I am a perfectionist so as soon as anything went wrong I had a panic attack and my brother had to calm me down! :D But we got there in the end and I think we did really well.

Here is the IOW cake:

I had to cut round a cut out map of the IOW to get the shape just right!

The little flags show some of my dads favourite places to visit.
(I'm so jealous though as my brother wrote the flags and I think his handwriting is nicer than mine! :)

My dad really liked it and we've finished the cake now as we had it for breakfast,  it tasted good! All that icing and jam...:P

I think next we are off to visit some National Trust gardens as that's what my dad has chosen as his birthday outing,

See you all later, bye!
