Blythe sock hat - tutorial

Hello everyone :)

The other day I was sitting doing some work when I looked over at my girls Candy, Catherine and Etty.M and a pair of socks I got for Christmas sitting on my dresser and had an idea.... Blythe sock hats!

And here they are, I made them all one:

I thought it was really cool how different socks gave such different effects
:-)

They are very simple and fun to make so I thought I would post up a tutorial so any little Blythe out there who wants one can have one too!

Blythe sock hat tutorial:

You will need:
  • A needle
  • Some thread
  • A pen
  • A sewing pin
  • A sock, of course :)
  • And any decorations you want to add

How to:

First step, choose your sock!

Then turn it inside out and pop it onto your Blythe (or other dolls) head. Once you have got it on properly place a pin through both sides of the sock at the very top, where the hat should end:

Once you have done this carefully remove the sock, making sure not to displace the pin and pick up your pen! Onto the hat draw an outline of where you will be stitching, draw an outline similar to the red dotted line in the picture for a bunny style sock hat or the blue dotted line for a beanie hat (or you can experiment and come up with your own hat style):

Don't cut anything yet as if you cut before sewing the sock material will roll at the edges making stitching difficult. Stitch all the way around your outline:

Then carefully cut out you hat shape, leaving about 1/2 to 1 cm gap of sock around all the stitching. (If making a bunny hat make several small cuts at the bottom between the ears to prevent gathering up in  this area when turned right-side out):

Then turn you hat right side out...

... decorate, however you wish, and with whatever you wish....

... All finished!!!

I hope you like the tutorial :) <3

See you all soon,

Byeeeeee xxx

Im back! (+ valentines day update)

Hola,

I am back from holiday now, I would have kept you all updated but there was no internet where I was so I have had to save my pictures till now :) Hehehehe, I will try not to bore you all :0)

First up HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!!!!!!! I was a bit sad I couldn't wish you all a happy, lovey, dovey day on the 14th so I had to do it now! My family loved their bookmarks so I was very happy :) I was also super happy because my dad gave me this lovely chocolate lolly from 'Chocolate island' (one of my fave shops on the IOW) as a valentines gift...

It was sooo delicious, I had to wrestle it off Domo, Etty M and Candy first though! Hehehe :oP

For dinner my dad also made heart shaped pizzas and garlic breads for dinner too, here are the garlic breads but the pizzas got eaten before I could take a picture:

They were super yummy too!

I really hope everyone had a lovely day :-)

In other news, I now bring you a picture of the infamous choc dipped Ice cream, I think I wrote about these in my last IOW holiday post but didn't remember to take a picture, but this time I did and this time I had a super duper double one.... mmmmm....

It was very big, but not quite as big as the one outside the ice cream shop.....

hahaha :D

I will leave you all with the picture I took of view of the sea I saw as I strolled along eating my ice cream :)

Keep an eye out tomorrow as I will be opening my special giveaway of the little parcel goodies I picked up whilst on holiday :D

See you all soon,

Bye! xxxxx

Here are Catherine and Candy modelling the beautiful new additions to thier wardrobe. Candy loves the sweater and skirt, they compliment her hair so well and Catherine's spotty dress is so bright and happy! But who is that down if front? I hear you ask.... this is the new super cute addition to my blythe family also sent to me by my very genrous swap partner :)

I think I will call her Christina!

You couldn't see in the picture above but this is the bow headband which goes with Candy's dress, I love it! Sooo cute!

And if the spotty dress wasn't cool enough already it is also reversible, here is the pattern on the inside:

As well as all this my swap partner also included some little shiny star buttons and some charms in the parcel and said I could choose a free blythe pattern from her shop on ravelry, how kind! Thank you PandoraPhelps! :o)

Hehehe, here is Etty (short for Etty-Madeline, her full name :) talking to Christina and waiting for her turn to try on some of the beautiful clothes:

Dolls Christmas party :3 + Free Blythe Cracker hat pattern!

Hello everyone!

It has been a very fun day today :) Candy and Catherine had a special Pre-Christmas party today with thier newest friend Penny (A tangkou doll I bought on Ebay :) They chatted lots and drunk quite alot of orange juice too! For this special occasion I made them all some Christmas cracker/party hats, they liked them alot. Hehehe here is a shot I got of them all in deep discussion about how Candy keeps her hair so pink, lol!:

I thought I would give away the hat Pattern free just in case there are any other Blythes anywhere in need of party hats :0D

Here it is....

You will need:
  • A pair of 3.25mm needles
  • DK yarn in any colour you want (the better quality/slightly thicker the better as this stretches less when ironing flat)
  • A darning needle
  • A pair of scissors
  • And an iron (or you can block your piece)
Party hat pattern:
(Avoid knitting too loosely as this could lead to hat being too big)

Cast on 66 sts
Row 1-7: Stst 7 rows beginning with a K row
Row 8: In P, cast off 1 st at each end and work purl over rest of sts (64 sts)
*Row 9: K8, then working on these sts only (leaving rest of sts on needle) work first point:
(P across on all even rows)
Row 11: K2tog, K4, K2tog (6 sts)
Row 13: K2tog, K2, K2tog (4 sts)
Row 15: K2tog twice (2 sts)
Row 17: K2tog (1st)
Then fasten off for first point*

Rejoin yarn and work from * to * to work next point and then following remaining 6 points (8 points in total)

Making up:

Darn in all loose ends leaving just cast on thread for sewing up hat later. Then carefully iron hat piece to flatten slightly, avoid ironing the piece heavily as this will flatten it too much causing the hat to be too large. Alternatively you can block the piece to flatten, this takes longer but it you do not stretch piece too much this does reduce chance of hat being too big. (elastic can be sewn in to hat if this does happen anyway :) Then finally mattress stitch two end edges of crown together. You can then add any decorations you want :0)

All done!

I hope you like the pattern and I hope it enhances some other Blythe/doll parties! :0P

See you all very soon,

It's not long till Christmas now, I can't wait!

Bye!! xxx

Abbreviations:
st(s) = Stitch(es)
K = Knit
P = Purl
K2tog = Knit two stitches together
Stst = Stocking stitch

Introducing... Candy! :)

Hi everyone :)

For passing my driving theory test my nan (very generously!) gave me £20 to spend on whatever I wanted, later when I was looking at stuff on ebay I saw some beautiful basaak dolls, Blythe clones, which were only about £21 each so I ordered one using my treat money and the other day she arrived!!!! She like Catherine was very nicely packaged and tied up string and everything:

And here she is...

I called her Candy :)
(a suggestion from knittinggirl on Ravelry which seems to fit her perfectly and she loves!)

She is quite shy but her and Catherine are getting on like a house on fire! Catherine is very happy to have a new friend :)

Candy's hair clip was one of the many pretty extras (The seller even included a pretty little bag for me with London buses and things on, so cute!) which came with her but I designed and made the outfit she is wearing in the picture for her :0)

Catherine's new coat was a gift to me for passing my theory test from my mum (I have a very generous family! :-) She really likes it and doesn't want to take it off because it keeps her soo snuggly and warm!

Im off now, I have some work to do before having pizza for dinner and then watching glee with my mum Catherine and Candy, lol :P

See you all soon,

Bye from all three of us! xxx
