Today is the start of something new :D

Hi everybody,

Today I finished the last ever of my A-level exams meaning I am done- finito- done, done, done, done, done!

It is a fabulous feeling as now the next chapter of my life can finally begin- what I worked so hard for- to go to university and study costume production; my dream career!

I have the holidays and several weeks and lots to do before I head off to do that but I am so happy as now I can really start the rest of my life :)

Hehehe, I was just so happy I wanted to share my thoughts with you all!

Thank you all for all of your lovely comments and reading my blog and everything as all of it really helped me through my Alevel/exam years being able to talk to all you fabulous people!

Jubilee pin cushion, nans birthday present and naming a turkey!

Hi everyone,

On Tuesday I finished the last of my AS exams so since then I have had tons of lovely wonderful crafting time! :D I have got so much done, It's amazing how many hours there are in the day when they are not full of revision, hehehe :-)

I finished my Jubilee pin cushion:

I didn't add a message to the back in the end as I liked it just plain :)

I also managed to start this tote bag:

(Hehehe, you can see where I have had the embroidery circle! :P)

I stitched the bag using the sewing machine after cutting out the fabric using a cardboard template I made from using another bag I had as a guide. Now I am just stitching the flower design on the front and then I have to add the handles. I think I might stitch a little smiley face on the flower :)

I am making it for my nan as a present for her 70th birthday, I will keep you all updated on my progress! I hope my nan likes it when it is done :0)

Some of you were probably now wondering about the 'name a turkey' part of the title, well let me explain.....

Before my exams my mum said as a treat for working hard at the end of my exams I could have a little treat (she also bought me some more vegan marshmallows to munch on during my revision :). As many of you will know I am vegetarian and I also am often concerned on the welfare of animals in the food industry and one day when I was looking up what producers used free range eggs, out of interest, and by chance came across the site of a place called Hen Heaven (http://www.henheaven.org/). It is a sanctuary for rescued battery hens and turkeys. I thought the rescue work they did was brilliant and when I saw their name a turkey appeal I knew what I wanted my exam finishing gift to be!!!

I had great fun trying to think of a name and in the end came up with 'Lord Gobble Gobble' hehehe, I thought it sounded very regal! :0) Yesterday my mum paid and sent off the name I chose and hopefully I will get a certificate through the post  sometime soon :) One day maybe I may even vist little 'Lord Gobble Gobble' :0)

I am going to do some more stitching on my nans birthday gift and dream about all the cute little turkeys at Hen Heaven :) I hope you are all having a nice week,

See you soon!

I'm back!!!

Hello everyone!

I'm Back! and better than ever, Hehehe!

I have missed you all lots!
 I had a brilliant holiday though! :0) The apartment we stayed in was nice and had a great view of the sea and the water park was very fun, we went rock pooling and snorkeling quite a few times too!

This was the view from our balcony:

and here is a picture of the water park:

In the end I was brave enough to go on all the slides :)

This is one of the beaches I visited:

The water was quite clear and contained lots of fish and little creatures, I went floating round on my lilo wearing a snorkel, exploring! I kept creeping my dad out by saying 'I can see a hermit crab' and 'Whats that thing?', he's not as keen on the creatures of the deep as I am, he worries he will tread on them and get stung/bitten etc...! :0)

I can't blame him though, I did see some pretty odd marine life, such as this centipede type thing:

I think he is quite cute in his own way :)...?

In the rock pools there were lots of crabs and some baby hermit crabs too, which, of course I took pictures of to show all you lovely people!

I also manged to fit in a lot of crafting (post coming soon :) and bought loads of good stuff from the local shops such as a realllly cute hello kitty backpack and pair of shoelaces, some little hair clips and some bargain bracelets which had loooaaddsss of beads on which I am going to cut up and use for crafting :)

I also bought some stuff for a giveaway which I will be posting up soon, it has just been pretty hectic first day back. My GCSE results were meant to be posted to me, as I was away but there was a mix up and they weren't (I did find a little thank you card in the post though from Laura from Cute crocheted creations for the gift I sent her for her wedding, which you can see on her blog. That made me smile, thank you Laura!)

In the end I had to go to school to try and get them, thankfully the exams officer kindly came in especially for me, to sort them out :-)

I got:

English literature= A
English language= A
Maths= A*
Biology= A*
Physics= A*
Chemistry= A*
Citizenship= A*
RE= A*
PE= A*
Geography= A*
Business= A*
Food tech = A*

I was soooooooooo happy! I really wanted to get straight a's and was really nervous but in the end I managed to do even better than hoped, I cried when I saw the sheet! :D My family were thrilled too and to celebrate they are treating me to pizza and ice cream tonight, mmmmm...,

Yum! :P

I am a VERY happy bunny! =:0)

I also got to go to my knitting group today :) ( I will post about that soon as well)

I think I need too go and lie down now though, I have had a lot of excitement today and I didn't get back till about 1:00am this morning so I think I definitely need to relax a bit before my next dose of excitement, my pizza and ice cream spectacular!

See you all very, very soon!

Bye xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

(p.s thanks to Cucki for looking after wooly! Lol :-)

Yolah!

TODAY I FINISHED MY GCSE EXAMS!!!!! WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!! :D

It's been about 3 months of working every day, for hours :(  But now im freeeeeeeeeeeee! :3

As a celebration I thought I would post a free pattern, a cupcake pattern to be exact so you can all celebrate with me or make them to celebrate your own recent triumphs!

I made this pattern a while ago (and I blogged about it too). I like to call them roly poly cupcakes. They are a bit different because they don't have a knitted case, you serve them in paper cases:

You will need:

  • Light brown or dark brown DK yarn for the cake part (depending on whether you want chocolate or plain cake :P)
  • Blue, pink, yellow, white  etc... DK yarn for the icing
  • Red DK yarn for cherry
  • A handfull or so of stuffing
  • A darning needle
  • Some seed or bugle beads (or scraps of yarn) to sew on as sprinkles
  • Some cotton and a needle to sew on beads if using
