Holiday pics!

Hey!

I hope everyone had a good Easter and was visited by the special Easter bunny =:0) I thought today I would put my promised holiday and chocolate bunny pictures....

Firstly here is the AMAZING chocolate bunny I got as my Easter gift! He came from a shop called Chocolate Island (on the Isle of Wight where I went on holiday). Their chocolate is delicious, all that is left now is a tiny bit of his bum :0) mmmmmm............

The other bonus of my Easter gift was that I got to keep all the ribbon that was tying it up to use in future projects. I was a very happy bunny, lol :D

I stayed at Calbourne Mill in the Isle of Wight, in a cottage. The cottage was surrounded by large grounds with mill, cafe and shop, mini boating lake, mini putting course and even animals like peacocks and chickens!!!!!!
We got a slice of free cake in the cafe and free use of all the activities/grounds (which is good as normally if your just visiting the place you have to pay for it all including an entrance fee)

This was the boating lake (avec fish!) which we all went for a row on pretty much everyday

And here are the grounds, the boating lake runs all the way along the hill so you get a lovely view as you row, row, row, row ,row your boat :) We pretty much had all of this space to ourselves after closing time.

Now for some of the most cutest animals you have eeeevvvverrrr seen...

Tiny baby chickens AWWWWWWWW I WANT ONE!!!!!!!

And baby ducks, I nearly died of a cuteness overload! :o3

I'm glad I saw the peacocks fanning their feathers though, It was amazing! Very inspiring... They were all trying to impress the pea-hens who basically weren't at all interested :( Ah well, that's nature.

soo cool!

That's basically it for my holiday pics (I probably bored you all to death, soz!)

In other news I FINALLY found a pattern for a little pretty jacket to go over my prom dress! Yayyyyyyyy :) Im getting there but its crochet and Ive never done anything big in crochet before. However I think Ive got the stitch pattern now soo Ill be finished soon.

See you all vvvveerrrrryyyy sooon!

Bye x <3 x

Bring stitching back to our screens!

Yolah! ( it's a combination of yo and hola :)

The other day I was on Ravelry and one raveler had posted about knitting and crochet programmes and how there is a distinct lack of them on British T.V. I completely agreed with this as I have only ever seen two things about knitting on TV and one was on a shopping channel. They were trying to sell you a scarf kit, not exactly what I would classify as programme about knitting and crochet... and the other was Harry Hills 'K' (knitting) factor which was part of Harry hills TV burp programme which was very funny and something I really wish I could be part of now (I was only starting out knitting at the time so couldn't then :( ) But again this was not a programme completely dedicated to knitting/crochet.

I was really happy to find that this raveler had posted up two videos from the BBC archives of programmes first broadcasted ages ago all about the fiber arts, they were absolutely fab!

I learnt quite a bit (and enjoyed laughing at some of the out-dated haircuts!) There were good tips on designing your own patterns and also guidance on how to alter already existing patterns.

They are well worth a watch for any knitter or crocheter :D
The two videos were part of a whole series but sadly they are the only ones on the BBC website :( Oh well the raveler who posted up the vids was going to try and contact so of the big UK TV names so hopefully more series like it will be popping up on my screen soon! :)

See you later!

Your knitting and crochet time: 2011 Knitting and crochet blog week! (Day 7)

Hi :)

Today is the last day of the 2nd annual knitting and crochet blog week (don't be sad though there is some really good stuff coming up in April!) and the topic is when and where you craft.

I generally do my knitting and crochet at home, although sometimes in the car if it's a long journey.

My room and the lounge is usually where you will find me working my yarny magic :0) When knitting/crocheting in the lounge I sit near the window so I can place my scissors, stitch markers and darning needles etc.. on the windowsill, it stops me from losing all of that stuff behind the cushions which is important as I don't think my parents would be to happy if they sat on a stray needle one day!

I do my most of my knitting/crocheting for about 1/2 and hour before I go to bed, I do more during the day if I have time but there's usually alot of work that I gotta do! Its nice to do it then anyway as it means I go to bed happy and thinking about my latest project :) However it can be a problem if I'm really tired out and its a project I have to concentrate on ... :/

Oh well I'll have more time one day.

I'm off now to go and have a relax and possibly eat some chocolate seen as its a Sunday night!

Bye bye :D

P.s As today is Mothers day 'HAPPY MOTHERS DAY MUM!'

Bye!

Something to aspire to: 2011 Knit and crochet blog week (Day 6)

Yo guys!

Today is skills you: aspire to, want to achieve but never think you can, Dont want to learn etc...

There has been no skills that I think I will never be able to achieve ever since I managed to learn to crochet, which at the time seemed impossible. With hard work and patience I  got there in the end so I think that's the key to everything  really :)

There are tons of skills i'm still yet to master such as:
  • Cable knitting
  • Knitting/crocheting clothes and jumpers
  • Sock knitting
  • and more complex crochet stitches/techniques
There are definitely no skills I would not give a go or try to learn as once you've mastered them you can use them in other projects to make extra special items!

I'm not usually intimidated by any knitting or crochet patterns I just take them one stitch at a time, however if was asked to knit this I may be just a  little bit nervous!

See you tomorrow! :D

Friday 1 April 2011

And now for something completely different: 2011 Knitting and crochet blog week (Day 5)

Writing in yarn, thats pretty different, eh?

I also thought I would write a little poem about my love of the fiber arts especially for this special experimental day  (P.s I know its not great so please don't judge me! :0)

Ode to knitting and crochet

I love my needles and my hooks
And all my wonderful pattern books

I also love all the beautiful wooly yarns
from the cute little sheep down on the farms

Stocking stitch, garter stitch and double crochet too
None of them ever do leave me feeling blue

One day I'd love to have my own yarn wall
Huge and big and wide and tall

Basically all thats left to say is, I love to crochet and to knit
Way more than just a little bit!

Voila! :D
(I hope you thought it wasn't too crappy :)

As well as being the 5th day of the 2nd annual knitting and crochet blog week and April fools day, it is also my brothers birthday! (he's 12 :D)

My dad always makes us special cakes for our birthdays (as you'll know if you saw my brithday post) and this year my brothers cake was, as every birthday cake is, completely and totally out of the ordinary and different so I thought It was perfect to be featured in this post:

It's a giant crabby patty from Spongebob Squarepants!!!
The burger part is brownie and all of it is edible (apart from plankton)

It's amazing and it tastes sooooooooooo great!

I also made my brother something a little crazy for his birthday, a tiny knitted globe:

He loves travel and geography so when I found the pattern: http://krakendesign.blogspot.com/2010/02/knitted-tiny-earth-pattern.html
I thought it would be perfect!
Well thats it for the different/experimental/birthday/april fools day post, I will leave you with another bit of yarn writing :0)
